Best known play probably but I'll take Ben to Holmes for a SB victory as the best

Agreed ...great play,,,,BUT best play in STEELER history??......This my friend was it!! This was the play that started the STEELER dynasty!! Yes they lost the next week to the undefeted Dolphins in 1972.....BUT this play gave us hope!!! This play created the STEELERS you know and love today!!!

I would PROBABLY say the Immaculate Reception is the best play TODAY. But ask me again tomorrow and I may say James Harrison's return in the Super Bowl. Then the next day I might say Ben to Santonio. Then the next day I might say Bradshaw to Lynn Swann in Super Bowl 10...EITHER of his great catches in that game. Then I might say Ben's tackle against the Colts. Then I might say Troy's pick of Flacco to send us to the Super Bowl. How could you POSSIBLY say one way or the other what the GREATEST play in our history is? It would be easy with MOST franchises to say what THEIR greatest play is but with us it is nearly impossible.

Just saying you young people never lived through the LEAN years of the STEELERS...Yeah I know the 80s...REALLY!!!....Here are our records for the years pre 1972..
    1971...6-8
    1970..5-9
    1969..1-13
    1968..2-11-1
    1967..4-11-1
    1966..5-8-1
    1965...2-12

Our worst year in the 1980s was 5-11 in 1988.......

That play on 12/23/1972 formed the STEELERS yinz all know today!!!!!

Iconic play no doubt, I have no beef with anyone that wants to choose that as the best ever but the Steelers were on their way to greatness with or without that play. It's not like they would have sucked forever if that didn't happen. But how often does a team win a SB with a last second drive like that? And with such an amazing pass and catch? One play won us a division title, the other won us a SB, BIG BIG difference.

You are correct. That was a great play and it won us a SB....However the play on 12/23/1972 showed the STEELERS fans and players after so many years of frustration that it WAS possible to win it all.We could do it.Than they went on to win 4 Super Bowls in the next 8 years.

I dont expect you to understand because you were raised on STEELERS winning.... but I was not.....The Steelers won the SB after the 1974, 1975, 1978 ,1979, seasons......That play proved we could do it!!!! Than they showed it!!!

There's nothing to understand, you can like it best, that's cool. I don't want to highjack such an important thread though so I'm done with this.
