We reportedly worked out CB Stanley Jean Baptiste. He was a second round pick of the saints two years ago before getting cut after just one season in New Orleans. He stuck on Detroit's PS for a while, and was cut yesterday. I thought it was noteworthy enough to post. Maybe they're thinking of a futures contract?

In case anyone forgot he's 6'3'' and plays corner lol I remember a lot of you wanting us to draft him early in that years draft.

Worth a look. With that size maybe a potential SS conversion?

He might be worth signing to the PS.

Our CB situation is pretty bad and my guess is that the FO knows it. So, popping him on the PS if they liked what they saw today, wouldn't be the worst decision in the world. The other possibility is that Jacoby Jones is about to get cut and they want to add some more options at this position IF they find someone they like.

Speaking of height, did you those Raiders CB, they are all like 6' 1"

Steelers did okay against them, but Ive seen them give other teams fits.

The way I see this organization run anymore is that if he comes in and gets on MT's good side then he has a chance to play CB even if he totally sucks.

I was thinking they'd ask AV to drop weight and play corner. This way we have giant bookends playing corner.

Not worth the time ..He has the size ,but a 4.61 40 time that turned me off in the draft ...That is 1 of the Steelers biggest problems on the back end is speed , no ty to another slow DB ...

seriously...in certain situations...I wouldnt be against putting a bigger player on Gronk at the goal line... you know theyre gonna go to him...put Heath or AV on his ass... and just pummel him at the line of scrimmage..

I don't mind small corners but then I see games like the raider game(huge receivers) and AJ green with MCarron throwing jump balls all day on our secondary. They have no chance.

Williams is a putz though. He always seems to cause trouble wherever he goes.

William Gay is the only consistent CB we have so far...and he should be the #3 CB for the Steelers. The jury is still out on Boykin... not enough tape on him yet to make a judgment. I hope Golson pans out, the Steelers draft the best CBs or Safeties available in '16... and Cockrell improves his game. There's no gaurantee the new draft picks for the secondary will be ready next year... so there's still a lot up in the air.

No one knows what he can do on the field, he's never started a game and was only used on special teams with the saints and was just a ps player at detriot, he was predicted to be a quality corner in the 2014 draft, we have nothing to lose by signing him and he may be that star corner if he gets a chance to show it in a real game...........

    New Orleans Saints
Baptiste played in only 4 games during his rookie year with the Saints, almost entirely on special teams. In his second year on September 5, 2015, he was released at the end of the preseason.

    Detroit Lions
On September 6, 2015, Jean-Baptiste cleared waivers. Later that afternoon, he was signed to Detroit Lions practice squad after refusing offers from several other teams. He was cut by the Lions on December 15.

Yeah, maybe. He's not going to hurt this locker room and if he tries they can get rid of him. He's a good man cover guy though, especially compared to the **** we have here.

Who do you think has the chance to be better....SJB or Isaiah Frey? Frey is a 6th round pick who has been around and around and around and cut, cut, cut. If we aren't happy with Frey, maybe take him and see if he develops.

I guess they have to look where ever they can for CB help. I'm not sure if this up coming draft is deep with DBs. At least not where we will be drafting :)

I don't know much about Frey, but I'd be really surprised if Baptiste can cut it in Pittsburgh. I am a buckeye fan and watched him enough at Nebraska to form a negative opinion about his game. The two things he's worst at are big problems. He got flagged a ton for PI and holding in college, and is probably a worse tackler than Gerod Holliman was. Pure ankle biter who pretty much looks scared to hit a guy that is 4-5 inches smaller than him. If we sign him I hope he turns out well, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm curious to learn more about Frey. Would you mind giving me some background info on him?
