I made an issue of this Sunday night. It's just one more indication of the idiot Mike Tomlin is.

    Article here: http://espn.go.com/blog/pittsburgh-steelers/post/_/id/1098/steelers-make-adjustments-for-london-trip

Vikings arrived on Tuesday. Note these quotes from the article:

One advantage the Vikings, who have also opened the season 0-3, would appear to have is they should be adjusted to the time change by Sunday. The Vikings have been in London since Tuesday while Tomlin opted for a late arrival so he could keep the Steelers’ routine as normal as possible.

The downside to that is the Steelers will be on 3 a.m. time Friday when they arrive in London at 8 a.m.

Yes, you read that correctly. The genius Tomlin has the team arriving (on their clocks) at 3, for a game that will be a little more than 48 hours later. The trick is to keep the team hydrated for the long flight, but they will likely lose sleep as a result. So genius Tomlin has a sleepy team arriving, likely means NO practice on Friday. Who knows what shape they'll be in by Sunday.

    Unbelievable.

So what? Teams fly coast to coast all the time...while this is obviously a longer flight/time difference. But it won't matter one bit in the long haul. Steelers practiced Tues-Thurs here...Viking arrive there Tuesday so they probably practice Wed-Fri...3 days each.

I hate to do this to you...but the Patriots did the exact same thing last year. I know how you feel about Belichick. ;)

Maybe you should be the coach.
Maybe Tomlin knows the players and their habits.
Maybe he wants them to be focused on the game and not sightseeing.
    Maybe...........

I don't see this as a big issue. Do you think Tomlin was the sole decision maker on when the team left?

I guess we will truly know what impact, if any, it has on their performance though but I'm sure some people will if they perform poorly.

I have to think the Vikings idea to arrive on Tuesday is a better idea than the Steelers have. I could not care less what Beilchick does. I have traveled cross country and overseas a few times in my life as a civilian and in the military and as far as I am concerned time zones especially time zones with a lot of hours between can really knock a person out of wack for a few days.

It absolutely matters. Look at the records of teams that fly from the west coast to the east coast. It's a big disadvantage, and that's only 3 hours, not 5 hours.

Vikings are also an extra time zone behind too.

This is such a non-issue it's beyond pathetic. If they're still feeling sleepy hand them one of those 5 hour energies and be done with it. I swear to god a steelers fan really will cry over spilled milk.

Makes for great fodder if the Steelers lose lol

Why not make the time zone the scapegoat

We are not a good team right now, and I would take any advantage I could get. Personally, I would have opted to fly over earlier. Jet lag affects us all differently, but a time change definitely can require a few days for adjustment.

    It's a non issue.

If they lose, there will be plenty of other reasons why they lost.

    Question:
Who foots the bill for the extra travel expenses of a game in London, do the teams or does it come out of some sort of NFL kitty? :hmmm:

Perhaps the question is more: if the team is only half awake when they take to the field on Sunday, will anyone notice a difference from the last 3 weeks?

Tomlin's post presser ...Obviously a bad decision on my part in regards to our flight departure. As a result it had a bad impact on our performance its all on me i own it. Obviously we gave a good effort but wasn't good enough, will have to do a better job going forward! (We do get our first win though hoping!)

What difference does that make? Extra travel expenses???? NFL teams pay $123 million in player payroll alone....Yinz think they give a rats ass about how much a trip to London will cost them?

I don't disagree, but teams that go west to east do seem to struggle more than teams that go east to west. There must be a reason for it and I'm sure the time change affects the body.

But both teams are flying west to east, so who is disadvantaged?

The Vikings might, since this is a "home game" for them. Are they getting their normal (home game) concession, etc. money?
