I was wondering about that too.
I thought that you HAD to throw the flag, not just say so....
Will be interesting to see if this was botched.

I agree completely. I'd like to think they win, but the Colts are starting to play better and I just don't think the Steelers are smart enough to beat a team that doesn't beat itself.

Maybe you need to send your magic dart board to the Rooneys.

I love how people are criticizing the offense and coaching staffs performance for the season while ignoring the fact that their starting QB missed 4 games with injury.

This just isn't their year and I didn't expect a whole lot going in. Given the circumstances I think the fact that they have a winning record and a good shot at the post season is actually a good reflection on the staff.

IMO next year is their year.

I honestly think we're a little farther off because our secondary is just horrific and I don't know that we have the answer to it on our roster. Offensively we are really good. Probably elite. Defensively though we are just flat out not.

They've had their moments. With an offense that can put up 30+ a game, they don't have to improve a whole lot from here. An average D with this O can be deadly.

The thing is though that we can't always depend on the o to do that. Actually they've rarely done it even when Ben HAS been on the field right? We didn't do it in NE, St. Louis, or against Cincy. Do you think Lake keeps his job?

They've put up 30 in 4 of Ben's 6 full games this season. Two of them without Bryant and all without Bell for the full game. This offense "should" be unstoppable next year. If the D can just hold to under 24 pts a game, they should win 12 next year.....Provided the O stays relatively healthy.

I think Lake stays another year.

And hence my interest in football has steadily declined in recent years.

Hence why I think it is a talented team, just not a terribly smart one.

They also gave up 19 points following turnovers today - so while you could argue they put up 30 today, it was more like 11 after the turnovers. Either way, without the turnovers they're plus 10 so that's not on the defense, it's offense. Seattle had 3 TD drives of less than 40 yards today.

LBs aren't playing badly. He stays too. The Steelers just don't make rash decisions. This D is in transition and is a WIP and they're going to give it more than 1 season.

This is a crazy stat I heard. DeCastro had as many tackles as Dupree and Jones today. We've got 4 first round backers in there and the thing that irritates me is that they don't seem to be able to seal the deal with the qb like we used to. Also I think a better rush would cover the problems in our secondary. I honestly always felt like we did that even in Ike's days here.

That's basically why I was sure I must have missed something. They made such a huge deal out of last week's miss, talking to all the coaches before this week, etc. and then whiffed on it a second time. Thought maybe I was losing my mind.

Didn't Dupree have a sack today?

No but Jarvis did force an intentional grounding though.

You ought to take a look at the list pre Noll.

I think Lake could be the next fall guy.

It is pretty clear that Lebeau wasn't the problem.

I don't know who would get more out of Blake, and the Allens. Mitchell looks much improved.

Bottom line is that the secondary has been neglected and underdevelopped for years.
Keenan Lewis being home sick as a grown man has worked out poorly for both sides.

If Polamalu, Clark and Taylor were in their primes this is a top 10 D if not top 5.
