CUT # 39 WALTER McFADDEN IMMEDIATELY!!!! This guy stinks. Just get it out of the way, don't pass go, don't collect $200.00 dollars, just go straight outta the Burgh!

Pick up some other guy who has been cut like Jordan Shippley for the rest of the pre-season.

Did it also seem like Sean Spence was a little disoriented at times as well? On one play the receiver was 10 yards behind him and on another play he also seemed to be out of position. Maybe on the first play it was the corners were playing too far off but I just thought he looked a little groggy.

    1. Dwyer made me feel at ease, even if Redman is hurt and can't go week 1, I think we still have a decent back in Dwyer to carry the rock. He's going to get carries no matter what.
2.I think the kicker and punter jobs are up for grabs and wouldn't be shocked if both rookies got the jobs.
    3. Cam Heyward needs to be starting instead of Ziggy Hood, he was a beast last night.
    4. Jerrod Johnson looked better, but I don't see him making the team unless batch or leftwich get hurt the last two games. Which from years prior is very possible.
    5. Would like to see a better pass rush, it was close a few times, Woodley got a sack, but Luck had too much time to throw, and I don't care who it is, if they have time to throw they will put up big numbers.

    - Adams is not ready for the starting left tackle job. Glad we got Starks back and I hope he is healthly by week one. I think Adams will eventually be an outstanding left tackle but not just yet.

    - the oline is a question mark especially at left tackle. I still believe they should of left the oline with Gilbert, foster, Pouncey, decastro and Colon for this year and switched it next year. But Gilbert is not playing very well either.

-Hrapman and Butler should be our specialist. Butler might have it by default but i would watch it close the remaining games with Hrapman and Suisham.

-Beachum is garbage. Maybe a year on the practice squad might do him some good but it's a reason why he was a seventh round pick.

-Cut down day to 75 players should be easy. The next cut day after that might be difficult.

i think that was cromartie-smiths zone area to be in. spence first dropped him off to the safety then saw he wasen't there. C-S got there late i think, is what happened on that play.

We don't have an LT, all of them have played awful. Mike Adams, another 2.5 sacks?? Come on!!

Though O looked flat. Way too many 3rd and longs....again. But you could tell they were specifically practicing certain things. Seemed to me it was more of a scrimmage type deal from them. AB is better than Wallace. Period. D was either vanilla or operating half speed. Or both. No pressure is a problem. Our LB's are/were meh.

Adams is not the answer at LT. He cannot pass block. Wasn't very good at it in college either quite frankly. Never understood all the excitement about that pick. He will be serviceable eventually, but Starks is better now (assuming healthy).

Best news of what was otherwise pretty boring night was what seemed to be no major injuries.

I think the O will come around. As the previous poster said they really focused on certain aspects and didn't gameplan. I think the O will be much better once they install a gameplan for a specific opponent. LT is a position of weakness right now. Hopefully Starks is ready to go week 1.

I like our rookie kickers. I would keep both of them. I would also keep Johnson and cut either Batch or Leftwich. Nice to see a WR not named Brown or Sanders step up last night. We still need Wallace to get into camp and be ready to go week 1.

Didn't see the very beginning of the game. My thoughts are, What are we going to do for backup O-linemen. Most of those guys need to be sent to the PS or cut. Legs looks hurt but servicable and Foster was OK. Maybe he needs to work at T. Never liked Essex; svelt or not. Beacham, outclassed but maybe OK for PS. Wanted to watch Lee but only saw him in a few plays. Overall, thought Batch and Johnson did very well dispite bad play in front of them. Though Hood was more of a problem for Indy than he has shown in the past. McClendon was very good again. I thought Spence was all over. Looks like he gets in on plays at the LOS and is able to get off blocks even though undersized. Someone posted about C. Scott. He's a big dude. May work out. Maleki wasn't impressive to me. LB cuts will be hard. Johnson was good as was Ivy and we have to keep Robinson. Yr 3 for him, he could possibly start. There may be some good TE battles to make the team. Keep Peele(sp) cuz he's a vet, Paulson to PS?? The battles may be even better next year for TE.

This is true. But Gilbert played pretty well - better, in fact - against the same(ish) Colts line last season in a proper game.

Before the game I said I was looking for the learning curve on the o-line, and I don't tihnk I saw it last night. But what's getting in the way is exactly the same thing that has got in the way last few seasons - rotating, filling injury gaps, and so on. I hope this doesn't continue into the regular season...

foster looked pretty good at rt
the interior of the o-line is set barring injury
i didn't see all the struggles for gilber at lt that everyone else saw.......... he seemed solid and only struggled on 2 plays that i noticed
dwyer looks like the light is finally on
gilreath just separated himself from the pace for that 5th wr spot
ziggy played better than he did in the eagles game and i have no worries about our d-line
mark my words.............mcClendon is going to the pro bowl
spence spent alot of time around the ball
beautiful catch by ike..........(i think he has 2 more for the yr. to reach his quota)
mike adams needs some serious coaching on how to use his hands
jerrod johnson will be our 3rd qb
i like chris carter, but he needs to develop some counter moves............. he appears to be a one trick pony (speed rush only)
butler will be our punter this yr.
the pk battle will be one of the last descisions
will johnson impressed me with his blocking
beachum is reminding me of kemo from the neck up
essex is not an nfl tackle.............. keep him inside
can somebody please tell me what that poor excuse for blocking was about on the last field goal???????!!!!!!!!

I like how the article i read today saying Luck held his own against the steelers. Steelers pulled the starters the 2nd qrtr while Indy held theirs in till half.

I like the athleticism and size Adams has, He could could be really good, not sure why he was giving up the moves to the inside all night though?

Yo Robert Golden looks like a player...he looks like he has a higher understanding of the defense than a normal rookie....

    hardly.

they have this kid learning two different positions. this was his second game.

chris carter was all over the field last night. one more year in the weightroom for this kid and we might have something. i think he's every bit as good as worilds and by year 3 may be better.

The one player that was really jumping out at me was Will Johnson. When I was focusing on him I was rarely disappointed and after several of the more successful running plays I backed up to see him making a solid block to lead the runner. I got so tired if watching DJ lead the way to the line only to slow up and look around for someone to block, just getting in the way of the play or running through the hole and never laying a hand on the defense. Will Johnson was hitting the line, hitting a block, and getting upfield for the next level blocks. Much better FB play in this game than I have seen in Pittsburgh for a long time. Not saying too much.

If my math is correct our starters vs. their starters are up 27 - 7 after two games.

I think our offense needs to TRY to go downfield a bit (and succeed some) to make Wallace realize he had better get his butt in here. (Can E. Sanders get open ever? I don't remember him doing so. And, did he make a catch?)

No I don't believe Sanders had a catch. There was one time that he took a hit on the sideline and they acted like he could've caught it and said that he made a "business decision".

No your eyes did not decieve you.

On the NFL channel they were talking up is courage and determination by taking a foot first slide into the endzone on 4th down!

    WHAT?!?!

You can't make this crap up!

Personally, I thought the O-line looked good, with the exception of Gilbert, maybe. Really, I didn't think he looked terrible either but I may not be scrutinizing as much as others. I remember what we were like a year ago, two years ago and I think we are already better than that. Pouncey is beyond beastly, if there is such a thing. I thought Decastro played very well. I liked the holes that they were opening for the RBs but what I liked even more was the blocking that came from the RB's. I thought they did really well finding the guy coming through and picking them up. Anyhow...just my simple-minded thoughts.

Agreed a little slow on the "fake" cut block called on Rainey. Looked like the speed cuaght them both off guard. Rainey is suprising in his size and picking some of this stuff up though.

Just a couple of other notes from watching the game again:

Ramon Foster looked really good. His improvement is evident. Its apparent why coaches weren't just going to hand the job to DeCastro. Cut Essex and Foster can play LG, RG & RT.

While it may be viewed as dirty, I loved it. McLendon had the Colts RB (Brown I assume) wrapped up but not down. Ryan Clark geared up from atleast 10 yards away and just unloaded on the RB so hard that the force even knocked down the Guard (Olsen) who was standing behind McLendon. This is the physical tone that I like set.

I mentioned it before but Baron Batch's lack of vision is perplexing. All he ever seems to want to do is run straight into the back of one of our linemen and try and push forward. In doing this, his YPC will never be above 3.0. Dwyer on the other hand is completely patient, waits for the hole and hits it.

Leonard Pope's blocking was up and down, but when it was down he really made Matt Spaeth look good! I think Dwyer really could have popped off another long run on a run to the right that he cut back left, but Pope completely missed his man.

Mike Adams can really run block well. Once again, he probably doesn't start Week 1, but with enough practice and coaching, hopefully he will be come a very good LT.

Ziggy Hood is really good! I know alot of people gripe that he's not where he should be. But he will never be a 7 sack a season type of layer, its just not the scheme that is really going to allow it. He is stout against the run and can even get good pressure. No player received more double teams than Hood against the Colts.

Steve McLendon has become a special player. When only facing 1 blocker, he will dictate the play. Eventually teams will start putting 2 blockers on him and it should free up our LBs to do their thing.

Thats what announcers do most of the time talk ****. Chris Collingsworth is a joke.

Every year during preseason Steelers play the first stringers the least of any team I have seen. Coach Tomlin is very smart and takes the right approach toward preseason .
