There's a huge turnout tonight (as you'd expect) and things are well under way.

    Timmons signing autographs~

I'll be doing the usual pulling reports from social media outlets. Feel free to jump in anyone, anytime, of course. I'm going to be putting up a camp summary thread soon to make it easier see what's been noted about a player.

Damn it looks like Clemons is doing everything he can to not make the squad.

Pretty much. I think we'll begin to hear some Ziggy talk soon, though.

"Willie Colon just punched Cam Heyward in the helmet. Hard. You can break your hand that way. Havent seen 1 of those in awhile."

"Cam Heyward, Mike Adams fight. Willie Colon breaks it up, then punches Adams himself" <<<I think he meant Heyward there>

Well, whoever made that quote, I suppose we can trust it if Corbin Bryant and Al Woods both turn out better than Keisel this year.

    What do you mean?

Everything I've read Bryant and WOods have been doing well. The tweet came from Kaboly, but don't forget two important words "so far".

There's only been a handful of practices and Ziggy hasn't gotten a whole lot of reps, so I think Ziggy will be getting more attention soon.

"Starting RB Isaac Redman suffered a minor "groin of some description," Tomlin said of Fri. night's practice. OG Willie Colon hurt an ankle"

"OG Willie Colon mixed it up with DE Cam Heyward, giving new meaning to "punch" blocking. At night practice's end, Mike Tomlin had no comment"

:dancing: I'm plenty confident in Pouncey's play, so this is all good news if you ask me. I am really stoked for that guy.

Re: Steelers Training Camp Day 9 8/03

I was there...definitely awesome to see the 4 retiring as Steelers. PACKED CROWD...biggest I've seen I think. The autograph signing time was fun...I actually managed to get quite a few:

    Tomlin
    Heyward
    Mendenhall
    Mike Adams
    Colon
    Pouncey
    DeCastro
    Gilbert
Art Rooney II (after his radio interview, not during autograph time)

I got the whole (potential) starting OL, 4 of the last 5 1st rounders and the last 2 2nd rounders...not to shabby...one of my better outings of getting autographs!

But anyways...I unfortunately didnt get to see a ton of practice as I couldnt get a seat and stayed at field level so i didnt see everything.

    A few things i remember...

The rookie punter Butler...seemed to be getting off some nice punts...he's taking advantage of Kapinos being out.

One thing I noticed about the OL...is compared to some past years...theres really no "fat guys" anymore...with Kemo gone, Max staying in shape and Essex loosing weight...they all looked good.

Rainey and Batch looked fast and can cut really nice.

Will Johnson looked much more like a FB than DJ...just his overall look, the way he did some of the drills, just looked more like a RB (i know he's an FB...but the moves of an RB type player compared to a TE), DJ wasn't bad but he just didnt look as good in some drills in my opinion.

TE Pope is one tall mudda-shut your mouth!

K Hrapmann made some nice kicks including a 53 yarder.

Cortez Allen and K Lewis has a couple nice INTs.

LB Brandon Johnson seemed to have a nice night.

Derrick Williams and David Gilreath had a couple nice catches.

Sean Spence looks bigger than the 5'11 he's listed at.

OL verus DL...it seemed the OL won a number of those battles.

TE Saunders had a couple nice catches.

What can Brown do for you? Catch just about everything thrown his way thats what!

Theres probably more...but this is what I remember. I wanted to watch a few certain people (Ta'amu, Woods, and a couple others, but I totally forgot about them). I did take a handful of pictures, nothing special...but if I get the chance and find a place to upload them I will and I'll share them here.

PS - The fireworks were awesome too!

I was there too - the closest I'll be for a LONG time to an actual Steelers game.

I was perplexed as to why Ben wasn't playing in the 11-on-11. This is usually a night to showcase some things - give some love to the fans. Why didn't he take one 2-minute drill? Weird.

Autograph was NOT as positive as the above member. My son was trying to get autographs - and got ignored by every player he tried to get one from. He is a very polite young man, was waiting his turn and even politely called out, "May I please have your autograph on my hat - (SB XVIII)?" with no luck. He was very discouraged at the end of the night.

Daniel Hrapmann looks MUCH stronger than Suisham at this point. Not only did he boom a longer field goal (53 yds) - but his kicks looked stronger and more authoritative. After the field goal drills, I looked at my son and said WOW - Suisham's field goals looked like floaters compared to Hrapmann. The boy can kick!

Who the heck is #21??!! - He is not listed on the roster, but he and Tomlin were very chummy during stretches. He played with the DBs, but we could not figure out who he is. Anyone? Anyone?

#21 is Mewelde Moore .. jk . I went and looked it up from the Steelers website and there is no #21 on the roster. I guess you never saw anyone at all lol

My son had a theory. He said it was Mike Wallace in disguise. They put him with the DBs so he could catch some passes in he interception drills. We started calling #21 Mikail WallAH-chay.

We knew it wasn't Wallace. It was just a joke.

You must have been right below us. We saw him come through the crowd at one point.

Was making friends with the "event staff" so they would turn their heads when the guys came thru. Shook Heath's hand and high five'd Ziggy. We had so much fun. If you are facing the field we was just to the left from where they was doin interviews by the fence.
Now that you say that about Clark I remember something about that. I knew he looked familiar :)

We were right above you - about half-way up on the 50-yard line. Next year, someone should bring a BIG sign that says "thesteelersfans.com" so that we can do a meet-up.
