Steelers Training Camp Day 7 8/01/2012

I can't believe it's already August 1st. Anyway, let's get another camp day rolling...

I just checked the weather outlook for Latrobe today, and it looks like it'll be a sweaty, yet storm free day of practice. Expect the intensity and the number of scraps to be as high or higher.

Here's some early notes to share:

"DB Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith removed from the PUP list and will practice this afternoon."

"Breaking: I talked w Steelers LB coach Keith Butler asked him when Harrison would be back: "I'm hoping a couple weeks, but I don't know."

"That is certainly longer than I expected on Harrison. Worilds he hopes to have back before last preseason game. Again longer."

"Butler wasn't trying to play doc/trainer & caveated his comment, but clearly he didn't say day-to-day or next week."

"Casey Hampton said that despite vast differences of their positions, he, Starks & Mendenhall all are on simmilar rehab schedules (torn ACLs)"

"Hampton's on his 3rd torn ACL, says that allows him 2 come back quicker b/c he has confidence everything will work out. Confident to test it"

"Exchange w/Mendenhall: "I feel right on schedule (w/knee rehab)." Any idea what that schedule is? "No, none at all." Glad we cleared that up"

"Mendenhall on ACL rehab: "Just getting basically back to normal strengthing wise and getting it to fire like normal."

"Unlike most who rehab ACLs, Mendenhall maintains,"Mentally it hasnt been difficult at all. It's really just getting your leg back to normal"

In a radio interview earlier today with Keith Butler, Butler said-

He wants to get everyone used to making calls on the field

He says Chris Carter 'has a never say die mentality'

On Worilds' return:
"...We'll see with worilds...he's progressing, hopefully he'll progress enough to where we can get him back a week or two before season starts." "...Everyone can get fit, but if you don't know what to do you aren't going to help your team."

Yeah, I was pretty hopeful for Worilds to finally make an excellent showing, but missing all this camp time bites. As they say though, it opens up opportunities for others to show their stuff.
