At no point did I say he would be starting here this year...dude is a rookie for goodness sake...but he is light years better than Whimper....is cheaper than Whimper....Has more upside than Whimper....would be like getting an extra draft pick from 2012.....

Wow, it's not all about that.

No one is saying anyone is smarter or busting your balls.

The reality is that no matter how much tape you watch or how great a guy may look in preseason, it's no guarantee that he's going to be a great player. It's literally a crap shoot that can be made better odds by playing the percentages.

 

You're right I have no idea who Fragel is and if he is an upgrade to our team then it sounds good to me. All I'm saying is that I'm sure if the Steelers feel like he's an upgrade and its doable they will make it happen. It's one thing to throw a name out there and a whole different thing to act like the Steelers are a bunch of dumb bumpkins cause they are not smart enough to get such player.

my question is why guy whimper at guard and tackle as our backup? wasn't gilbert a guard too at florida? wouldn't he be a better swing tackle and guard on the bench come gameday? then Wallace could be the BU center/guard behind him.

I still believe if we play beachum on the left and brown on the right, this can be fixed enough to allow ben to operate and bell to run. I hate that they have these 4 days off in a row. we sure could use the gelling time to make moves like this.

the only thing they didn't talk about with us was the fact we gave up a late unconditional pick and vet minimum money for our one year rental. we don't have a mike oher or luke joekel waiting in the wings either if the new guy doesn't man up. I sure hope he goes to the right side and they keep the more nimble beachum on the left.

then again maybe it's a difference in a guy that feels entitled because he was a 1st round pick as opposed to a guy like beachum that wasn't and works his tail off for his payday.

honestly gilbert isn't much different in his work ethic then brown is. i'll wait to see what happens but if brown can touch the rusher it may be better than what we have seen from adams this year.

 

Hopefully the team will get lucky agagin.. People were saying Valesco was a slow fat turd, but he turned out to be our best lineman. Maybe Brown can do the same thing, maybe he got sick of the bubble screens and wanted out.

 

I think the biggest reason he is here is because of his run blocking ability. Even if he lacks in pass blocking if he can help in the run that will slow down the pass rush.
