Yes his fumble was the difference and I'm sure it was a psychological hit to the defense but they did start at their 35 and the D had already held them to FG's earlier with deeper starting positions. Perhaps fatigue was the difference on that go-ahead drive but I'd like to think that the D could have held them there.

Yeah I wasn't trying to make Toussaint the goat. His fumble was 1 failed drive.

Steelers started the game with a 3 and out that with the punt return set Denver up at the Pit 30.

    That was a worse drive.

Denver drove from their own 35 to score after the fumble. That's a lot of field to defend still.

My point was just that not having Bell, or Williams for that matter, limited what the Steelers were willing to do offensively based on effectiveness and ball control.

I was worried about fumbles on every handoff.

I honestly feel bad for Toussaint. He wasn't ready because of his coach. The veteran DWill wasn't suppose to carry the load for 10 games. They should have worked him and Todman into the offense long before everything was on the line. Maybe DWill doesn't get injured either.

From how the game played out, Berry should feel just as bad with the terrible punts. Wish we could find a good reliable punter.

Yep. Special teams was a HUGE factor in losing.

Special teams has been an issue for Tomlin's entire tenure.

From Josh Cribbs winning a game by himself due to poor coverage, to poor punters and kickers, to releasing SP team specialists like Curtis Brown.

    It's been a mess.

When a team spends 3 and a half quarters nursing a 1 point lead like the steelers did, it only takes one turnover to lose it....

Look we took a kid who had basically no playing experience and needed him to step up and help us win in the playoffs. Honestly, the kid did his best with very little experience. The fumble hurt, but the D could have gotten a stop as well or maybe gotten some turnovers of their own. It has been the MO of this team all year....lose turnover battle lose the war. Just the reality.

Third string running back...He scored on our first drive. It happens. I hope he can realize that at some point and move on.

As with any young rb, it's gonna be a learning experience...
He'll either come back stronger, or lose confidence and never be the same again... with the leadership on the team, I'm banking on the former....
Bell, d-will and Fitz next season looks like a dream backfield to me

Agree. I think Fitz has legit NFL talent. This was a very different situation from last year's loss to Baltimore where we had no viable running backs. I think he's going to be a solid player, and I hope he gets a few reps here and there going forward.
