Is he even better than berry? I checked and Jordan looked like he had better stats

He's definitely better in the consistency dept. that is Berry's problem

Does he know how to do a coffin corner kick? It seems like a lost art that no punter does any more, and I can't figure out why.

For sure. Seems to boom a 60 yarder punt then a 30 yarder the next time while we are pinned deep lol

I'd been wanting them to add one of the Colquitt sons for years.

Father Craig, IMO, is the best punter I've seen the team have in the years I've been watching them- and I go back to Bobby Walden, the man Craig replaced. Good for all concerned.

Good signing and good riddance Berry. What are the steelers paying him though? Did KC unload him because he was too high dollar?

I heard that if Colquitt signs for the vet minimum, then they will save about 1 million by cutting Berry.

Dont know the story Of why he became available other than I would presume age? Haven't done the homework personally but yeah inconsistency is a burden. I know he's older but if he can keep his average going with a decent boom here and there then it's a good sign in my opinion.

It is all about the Money. And it sucks to be a punter, because you are just no that much better than the guy on the street. It is not like punters need to learn a playbook.

Chiefs saved 2 million when they released Colquitt
Steelers saved 1 million when they released Berry.

The Steelers also have a Punter stashed away on their practice squad is they get out of hand.

If that is true then it means Berry was making over $2M a year because the vet minimum for Colquitt would be over $1M with 15 years in the league. If the steelers were paying Berry $2M then they were paying way too much.

The same can be said about bunting in baseball. Everyone wants to crush the ball instead of strategically playing the game.

This guy is entering his 15th year... IDK, I want Berry gone just as much as the next guy, but this is a risky signing to me..

At his age, he might tear a hammy on a kick and we'll have to sign someone else anyways...

Glad Berry is gone. He was actually very good for most of last season but he undid all of that with some shocking errors later on. All you really want from your punter is consistency and for them not to put you in a bad spot. You just couldn’t trust Berry.

Wasn't Mitch Berger about 102 when he played for us? Sean Landeta was definitely ancient when he finished playing. I get the concern but I don't think age is as important if the punter looks after themselves.

Brings back the memory of Ray Guy, IMO greatest punter ever. His amazing kicks to the corner's won games for the Raiders. Raiders were smart drafting him #1. Not many fans give much thought to the punter but field position is huge in games.

Several years ago I asked a coach about directional punting and why it wasn't used much anymore.
His response was "Because the juice isn't worth the squeeze" - Dick Macpherson.

Finally, berry is gone. He got out punted last year but they still stuck with. Enough is enough

I knew Colquitt had been in the league a long time and was one of the best in the game, so I looked up his career earnings. As of today, he's over $34 million. Quite a nice bank account for 1124 punts
