I like Graham, but he's not worth giving picks up for.

And yeah, judging my his tweets, he's not to happy about the franchise tag.

I understand your thought about the picks I think I just always hVe preferred having guys that have proved themselves rather than potential

Obviously Graham is not really on the table. However, there are some free agents that I do like. Here is NFL.com's list of free agents, and the ones that I have an interest in:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000329702/article/top-101-nfl-free-agents-for-2014

    7. Lamarr Houston - Probably too expensive based on his (somewhat surprising) #7 ranking, but I love him as a potential DE in our scheme. We have started to ask our DEs to penetrate more in response to changes in the way the game is played (and our challenges getting pressure from the outside), and I think he would be even better in our scheme than he has been in Oakland these past few years. My recollection is that he was widely projected as a 3-4 DE leading into his draft, and that he has good arm length to go along with his 6'3", 300 lb. frame.

    33. Arthur Jones - I would not mind taking him off of the Ravens' hands. He's a pretty solid 3-4 DE, particularly against the run.

    42. Red Bryant - Yet another 3-4 DE candidate. I think we have a good shot at finding someone to line up opposite Cam in free agency so that we don't have to pursue this position early in the draft.

    49. D'Qwell Jackson - discussed in another thread.

    56. Tyson Jackson - Yet another 3-4 DE.

    65. Shaun Phillips - He's a 1 year stop gap candidate for our questionable OLB situation.

    75. Anthony Spencer - He had his best season in Dallas' last season in the 3-4 in 2012. I see him as another potential 1 year stop gap candidate at OLB. He should be really cheap - maybe even a 1 year vet minimum deal.

    87. Brian De La Puente - A solid, young ZBS capable center. I'd be surprised if he makes it out of New Orleans, but who knows what will happen if they have to focus time and money on the Graham situation?

    99. Vincent Rey - I believe he's a restricted free agent, but I'm not sure. I though he looked solid for the Bengals last season when Maaluga went down. His game against Baltimore in the middle of the season was phenomenal in a losing effort: 3 sacks, 3 passes defensed, 10 tackles, 1 int. From that point on, he got more playing time and played very solidly. I think he's an upgrade to anyone we currently have who can line up next to Timmons on the inside.

I remember the 07 draft, being mad that the steelers passed on spencer.

Interesting that the cap is going up so much. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, we ARE going to have money to spend soon, at least I would expect. We currently only have 78 allocated for next season with a projected cap of 140 million. Ben will take up some of that. Worilds, if we sign him will take up some of that. An extension for Pouncey will probably take up some of that. Allen will probably get an extension at some point. Who else am I missing? We are going to be able to do some things in free agency next offseason that we haven't been able to do in some time.

I have said that I think we are about 1/3 of the way through a rebuild. This draft and next combined with what we can do in free agency and we will be able to take a couple of more runs prior to Ben being too old or too beat up to do it any more.

He also disappeared when it mattered. No production when the Saints needed it most.
