In a year that no fans are allowed, it doesn't make a bit of difference. Might as well play in Ecuador.

This isn't the best scenario for the Steelers but with such a fluid situation all teams will have to be flexible. As the poster above said, we're just the first. Who knows how many times this will happen between now and December.

The only way I see it is that they switch the Ravens and Titans bye weeks and make us play the Titans week 7 and then the Ravens week 8 which means not only are we playing 13 straight weeks but now the Ravens will have a bye the week before we play them. Another disadvantage to the Steelers...It seems like the Steelers got screwed and the Ravens will benefit. It all sickens me

    HUGE mistake.

This will not be the only time a team is affected. You can't keep kicking the can down the road.

If a team can't compete as scheduled, they forfeit. It's the only fairly consistent thing to do.

Make me Commissioner. I'll even do it for half the money. ;)

This sucks ass for the Steelers. I get the Titans may not have done anything wrong, but it's still on them. I'd bring this game to a neutral site and play on Sunday or Monday.

Not a good thing to lose our bye week. But if the NFL is going to do this every time this happens, it's going to be a huge mess.

I hope it just motivates the Steelers at this point and ticks them off.

Honestly how can you do a forfeit in a pro sports league? You can't.

So the Steelers should be ticked off that Titans staff and players got Covid?

So... just to be clear? If let's say JuJu gets injured in the week before the rescheduled Titans game? Do they get to reschedule it again since the Steelers are basically healthy right now? I'm guessing that's not how it will go.. lol

You line up and play with who is healthy...concussion, acl, covid.

They fail the test you quarantine them away from the facility until they pass a test.

All are still asymptomatic from what I have read.

No I think they should be angry that you probably have a bye week get moved from week 8 to week 4, when the Steelers didn't do anything wrong.

Just goes to show you the NFL had no plan in place and this won't be the 1st time this happens.

What you gonna do when a team has had their bye week already. and 4 players and two staff get covid?

But Silver lining Steelers have good past track record with earlier bye weeks from what I'm reading.

Sure you can. Just like in any other league.

The only other real option is you play as scheduled with anyone testing negative and fever free as of that morning and require both teams to play with face shields installed on their helmets... and hope for the best. I doubt the league is willing to do that.

What precedent does this make now come playoff time? Is the SB going to be delayed? If you won't do it then, don't do it now.

I disagree. I don’t know what kind of contingency plan you think they should have had, additional built in bye weeks isn’t plausible so only thing they could do is, containment, test test test. If they had found out about this late in the week, I think the game would have been cancelled immediately but since it was caught early, they waited too see if players stopped testing positive.

Ohhhh, I didn’t know if you were involved with the league planning the way you made a definitive statement like that.

So you do know, got it.

Ben makes a good point: ""We were told during training camp that this could happen," Roethlisberger said. "If you’re not diligent and you’re not careful - and I don’t know what is going on down there, so I’m not going to speak on them - but I’m telling you what we were told: If there might be a situation that if you aren’t careful and there are some COVID issues here in Pittsburgh, we might not be able to practice till Friday or Saturday. That’s why they made the rule with more practice-squad guys this year. We were made aware of those possibilities. I don’t want to say it is what it is, but that is why the plan was put in place to have guys, to be prepared, and why so many people are being diligent and not going out and being reckless and being careful. I’m home-schooling my kids. We’re not having guests over at the house. You have to do those things if you want to play the games on Sunday. We are preparing to play a game Sunday like we should be, and they need to be prepared to play the game Sunday however they need to do it."

Doesn't matter what the plan was, just that there was one. Just like Ben said, they were told this could happen. All the burden falls on the teams to make sure it doesn't happen and none on the league to be prepared if it does. This is the ONLY scenario that needed to be prepared for. So prepare for it. Personally, I think it should have been a simple forfeit rule based on x numbers of confirmed cases and x amount of time until next game.

Seems to me the worst outcome would be to play the Titans and have Steelers players be exposed and be positive.

For the health of this team, play the Titans later in the year. The playoffs can be pushed back. I believe they did that at the end on 2001 season. And, this might not be the only game to be rescheduled.

Suppose the Titans miss more than just this week. Super bowl might not happen until March.

I hate to defend the NFL, because it is something I rarely do. But I am really not sure what you want the league to do here.

They were prepared to play this game with an additional day or two to make sure there were no more positives.

There ended up being more positives so now they have to postpone indefinitely.

Keep in mind this will likely affect Tennessee and their week 5 opponent as well. If positives keep popping up over the weekend, Its quite possible the Titans don't play next week either. How many games do you guys want the Titans to forfeit?

I really do not think teams forfeiting games is even an option the NFL is seriously considering.

To me it seems more likely, that as these situations arise, there may be cancelled games that are not made up. Perhaps winning percentage will be used to determine playoff seeding in that scenario. But this will not be the last time this happens. Juggling bye weeks will work if these occurrences are rare. But if they become common place the NFL is going to struggle to find ways for multiple games to be rescheduled.

We all knew this was coming. We all got lulled into a false sense of security based off getting to see three weeks of great football. As a Steelers fan, I would rather this game be postponed than have our players potentially exposed.

Look on the bright side. At least Tomlin won't get the L this week and steelers stay undefeated instead of 3-1.

If anyone could find a way to lose without playing, it's Tomlin. He sure found enough novel ways to do it when we played.

Horrid and completely expected decision. You play with the healthy guys you have. Like always. We're not talking about 30 players here. NFL is a damn joke.
