It might make sense. (I don't have details, so this is guesswork.)

It takes time from initial exposure before a test can read positive. (It is pointless to test on Monday if someone was exposed on Sun.)

The positive test results didn't show up until yesterday.
Those 8 people might have infected others on Sunday, Monday, or Tues morning.
You can't get meaningful test results until some time has passed, so tests are taken on Wed or Thurs.
Probably a 2nd test on Thurs or Fri, to weed out false positives and false negatives.
Get results back Friday, see how bad the news is.
If all is well, Titans get their Sat walk-through ahead of the Sun game (old schedule).

The extra day lets them get a single day of practice on Sat., ahead of their Sun walkthrough.
Not much, but better than none at all.

There may still be a need for that with other teams. Though that gives all teams not playing a bye week.

    The Phantom Steelers/Titans TV Map - https://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2020&wk=4

At least we know where it wasn't going to be televised. Have to say, I'm sure enjoying NFL Game pass vs the $$$ DTV Sunday Ticket. Just have to go into delay mode a bit and avoid this MB and all other news outlets for about 5 hours or so. Like the options of full games (FF through commercials and halftime), concise games and Coaches view(s). Plus access to all NFL games back to 2009. Sweet deal for $99. :thumbs up:

I don’t know why people are acting like the league is flying by the seat of it’s pants.

Players and coaches tested positive, facility shut down, more testing being done, game gets pushed back a day or two. Whats the big deal?

The fact that no Viking players or coaches has come up positive is actually very positive. So far anyway.

The game was never going to be played on Sunday when the Titans would have had no time to practice. You can say it’s their fault but remember that if it happens to the Steelers.

I don't see how the league can say that the game "will" be played Monday or Tuesday? What if another test comes up positive today, or tomorrow, or Friday, or Saturday?

I think the idea is to keep testing the other guys who have not (or not yet as the case may be) tested positive. The guys who already tested positive will likely be out.

I see TBA in the blue area. If they played Sunday I'd get it.

But what if a player who was around a player who was around another player.....well, you know what I mean.

I just don't understand how the league can come out and say that the game will definitely be played Monday or Tuesday?

Driving a NASCAR at high speeds would be fun. But watching that crap? I'd rather watch paint dry.

Holy crap...I'm not in 100% agreement with you. My world is crumbling around me. That being said, this was the ONE decision that the NFL had to be prepared for. Think about this for a minute. They had to make a decision whether or not to even have a season. That was financially motivated beyond all else, even health. Because if health were the most important factor, there simply wouldn't be a season. Like you said, it's a business, and business is boomi...no, I won't say that. You know what I mean.

So...what is the only thing the NFL needs to avoid during the season (besides bad ratings)? A breakout within the ranks. That's it. That's the only issue that a season during the pandemic could/should fear. What else is there? Either no one contracts the virus, one or two contract it, or it grabs hold and spreads throughout an organization. If no one gets it, then nothing needs to be done. If one or two get it (like has happened already), there is a quarantine protocol in place. And if it begins to spread through a team during the actual season, then...uhm...wait...a decision is made fluidly? The worst case scenario has no contingency plan in place and spelled out transparently so that everyone knows exactly what will be done.

Typical NFL getting caught with its pants down, and no, not just an owner in a massage parlor.

I understand the finances are the bottom line, however got really greedy thinking they could play a full regular season schedule. With no preseason the first games have been pretty ugly and a lot of key injuries. Yes injuries happen, so it is hard to say it the lack of conditioning is the only factor. The other leagues were forces to make sacrifices, though their seasons were already started on in flux, the NFL should have followed a similar format. Regardless of what happens moving forward (assuming there are other instances) certain teams are at a distinct disadvantage. If the game was played on Sunday the Titans would have little to no prep, played Tuesday both teams will play on a short week. Juggling the bye weeks affects many teams in this already stressful situation. Hindsight is always easier to navigate, but a shortened season would have eliminated this, and possibly more to come. Money seems to always take place over common sense.

How though? This is just one game, what happens if many more games are postponed, do they push the season into April? How are playoff to be determined if some teams play 2 or 3 less games? Cart before the horse, but certainly something that should have been put in context before trying a 16 game schedule.

    Hey steel machine.

Yes, that is one of the good things that may come out of this issue. Although I am not too sure that all of us are guaranteed to see the game. I mean, will it be Nationally televised or just regionally in the Pittsburgh area? Let me know if you know the answer about this. Take care.

Because flying by the seat of their pants is exactly what they're doing. That doesn't mean the game can't still be played a couple days later than scheduled (hopefully).
