It very well could be. I saw a video of a guy that lived in PA and he home schooled his kids but still had to pay a ton of property taxes to fund public education and so as a protest he took over $7,000 in ONE DOLLAR BILLS to the county clerk's office to show how much money he was having to pay and he was complaining about the ridiculous taxes in PA. It was funny but also very trollish. LOL.

That's true but if ticket prices are lower that means demand is down. If demand continues to decline prices will continue to come down which will affect the pocketbooks of the owners. If the pocketbooks of the owners are negatively impacted heads will begin to roll. That's one business cycle that is 100% predictable.

When you are shelling out 600 bucks like some one suggested he did and our making an avg wage and you are seeing
a poor product I think it is pretty clear what SMART people
are doing. Check with stub hub. The scalpers will be looking
to unload early and CHEAP if the Steelers are not ENTERTAINING.Football is pricing out the AVG fan, corporate/
yuppies that don't know or CARE about the game are the people the NFL is catering to, So avg people, if the Steelers
continue their downward spiral here is your chance to see
them at a better rate. Wait til it gets cold and you will really get a good buy. LOL

My point exactly. I would love to go watch them in London but, at $1500-2000 for the flight alone (if I got lucky). I decided what I saw end of last year and this preseason didn't justify me spending that much when they haven't shown they can at least make me think they can be exciting to watch.

Hell, I get up at 0130 just to watch them put a stinker on and end up grumpy at the world all day as it is wondering why I paid $260 for gamepass.

So what you're basically saying is that it's only worth going if they are winning or playing good?

Yeah, SteelerGlenn That's what I'm saying......Not even trying to get into the wannabe true fan debate.

So, are you headed to London this year to watch the game?

I won't go unless I get tickets for face value. I would rather watch it at home and avoid the foul mouthed drunk Steelers fans and being herded through security.

Does this make me less of a fan?

No not going to London, but that would be cool. Went to the Titans game and have plans to go to the Bengals game.

Exactly!!! If someone wants to take care of all of that for me, as well as pay for the time off from work, I'll be glad to prove to you I'm not fairweather. But if I'm paying for all of that myself, I expect to get what I paid for. The past two games has been far from that!

You're not buying a washer at Sears. Definition of Bandwagon fan: someone who only supports a team during a period of success.

Not that I care, but I always thought bandwagon usually referred to someone who just started liking a team because of their success. I've not heard of fairweather fans before. Fairweather friends, but not fans. Sounds like another way to label someone who isn't as much of a fan as I am, which of course, is silly.

I've heard of that. a fairweather fan is one that only likes them when they are winning like a band wagon fan. come sunday night there will be stormy weather fans out in the slop hoping to be run over by the band wagon if they don't play better.:cool:

I've heard of fair weather fans too. As far as bandwagon is concerned, I'm guessing the Seahawks are about to have a lot of bandwagon fans.

I think you've proved my point with this post.

    At least SteelerGlenn gets it.

What's silly is we've had years of success, most recently back to back 12-4 seasons (one with a SuperBowl appearance) an 8-8 season and the the struggles of this season and some are using last year and this year as a deciding factor in attending a game. The Steelers deserve more loyalty than that.
I know that 99 percent of these guys are true fans or they wouldn't be members here. I also know its mostly frustration that drives a lot of the comments made, but now is the time to support the team.
Some of this stuff is the same type stuff we have made fun of other teams fans for doing and saying.

No, what's silly is trying to measure 'fan peens' with other fans all the time. I'm getting confused about who what this thread is about, though. Season ticket holders, fans who are no longer paying for tickets that were before, or people on this message board.

The people you're talking about on the message board aren't people who have changed all of the sudden. They are just as critical when the team is 12-4.

Ive heard of fair weathered fans. I've never thought to differentiate them from bandwagon fans, but I guess there is a difference.

My whole point is that Steelers fans are no different than the fans of the 31 other teams when it comes to support. Im sorry if that ruffles feathers, but its the truth. And I say that because I've seen numerous times through the years Steelers fans pointing to the Steelers streak of 40 some odd years of consecutive sell outs as evidence of great fan support. Although I've never seen that claim on this board, I've seen it stated in numerous other places around the 'net on other message boards and discussion threads. As someone who has been splitting season tickets and going to 4 or 5 games/year for the past 12 years I've seen it first hand. When the weather turns cold and the Steelers are in the tank, the stadium is practically empty. Go back and look at the attendance for the GB game in 2009 (where BR to Wallace won it on the last play) when the Steelers were 6-7, in the midst of a 5 game losing streak and written off for dead and see how few people actually went to the game (57,000). Then compare it to the next week when their playoff hopes were revived with the win against GB and they played Baltimore the next week and the game suddenly meant something (64,000).

I don't think that Im criticizing people on this MB, but merely making an observation about the fan base in general. I don't think anyone here should be offended.

I was responding to Glenn. I don't know who would be offended by what you said, though, and I don't know why it would ruffle feathers. I thought the mantra was that Steelers fans travel better than most, not that they fill their stadium better when the team underperforms.

I sat in 3 rivers at 10 years old since 1970. and I've sat and watched the pats and steelers at the coldest game ever in 3 rivers when it meant nothing for either. I went to the concession at halftime and by the time I got back to my seat the hotdogs were half frozen and didn't leave until it was over. yes and they lost. so yes i'm the greatest fan the steelers have ever seen.fair whether, cold whether, hot whether, weather they win, weather they lose, weather there's whether. ;)

I know bobby and it's disappointing at times with all the empty seats at some games. I've been there when the fans leave and we have come back and won some games too. then think , good for them that they missed that.

That GB game is the perfect example. The guy I was with was begging me to leave from the start of the 4thQ on. It was (very) cold and he wanted to get a jump on traffic.

I think what Bobby is getting at (and I agree with this part) is that the people HAVE tickets and choose not to go.

And I agree. That's disgraceful. If you cannot or don't wish to go, sell the ticket - even at a loss - or give it to someone who will.

edit: but to call someone out for not being willing to spend a week or more's pay to attend a game he doesn't already have tickets to. That's just asinine.
