This is why team building and playbook comprehension done in OTA's is important but also why you dont go at it like it's the regular season. Freak injuries that end a guy's season before it's begun.

Trade for Jonnu Smith and sign Gabe Davis that would be enough weapons for Aaron Rodgers .

This is a bummer, the injury that is.
They are trying to push Freiermuth. His production has been less than stellar.
Smith would be a nice addition but again, it's WR's we need. While Freiermuth's production isn't eye-popping, it isn't awful.
A guy like Rogers might even get him to the next level.

Fortunately the Steelers didn't break the bank on Muth's last contract. IMO, he's still overpaid.

Not really though. OTC valued him at $8.1M last year against a cap hit of $3.6M. It's the next four years where his extension ramps up his cap hit, to about $11.5M each.

Can he meet that? Maybe. Not likely if they get another receiving threat at TE like Smith. But they need more firepower on offense and are in good shape with their cap, so I'm not as concerned about some overpay on that side for now.

Brought to you by the same training staff that had Russell Wilson pushing a blocking sled on his first day of training camp.

There is a reason the Steelers trainers and medical staff were ranked dead last on 2024 player opinion survey.

On the other hand, this may open up the door for the Kyle Pitts rumors to start up again. Besides being a fan favorite, Muth is nothing, but an overpaid average Tight End who can't block to save his life. Pitts had a great rookie season under head coach Arthur Smith in Atlanta. Unlike Muth, Pitts could actually be a #2 receiver on the team. Because of the insane contract of Kirk Cousins the Falcons are up against the Cap wall with only $5 million left to spend; Pitts is playing on his option year, so if traded they could save his entire $10 million salary to help them with their cap problem.

There is absolutely no evidence to support the idea that anyone on the Steelers did something wrong that led to Parham's injury. None. That's just a silly assumption on your part.

I don't hate the idea of going after Pitts, but it would depend on the cost. He hasn't been anything special since that rookie season, though part of that is likely the dysfunction in Atlanta, but I'm not sure they would let him go cheaply.

Parham could have helped, but let's not overreact. Keep in mind that he spent all of last season on a practice squad.

The Steelers training staff got a B, along with eight others. 11 teams scored below that.

Kyle Pitts: 61 games, 196 receptions, 2651 yards, 10 TD
    Pat Freiermuth: 61 games , 220 receptions, 2120 yards, 18 TD

This guy years his Achilles at OTAs 2025. Let's say he's back running and working out in 9 months. That is right about time for the 2026 draft. He may not be back at 100% by next year's TC. He's only signed for this season. Just bad luck.

Hate to see a player like his season to injury, but parham was very much a luxury.... his absence does not truly effect the offense in any negative way
