I have still not ready anything about Haskins getting his original-round tag to guarantee him $2.5 million and a roster spot. I wonder if this signing effects this move?

Depends on what he signed for. We shall see. According to Adam Schefter Colt McCoy just resigned with Arizona for 2 years 7.5 mil. Hes a backup but about the same level of QB as Trubisky...7.5 mil is doable for the Steelers I would think. You could assume Trubisky will receive double that amount as the presumed starter, but that's still not bad....hopefully it wouldnt be much more than that.

I’m predicting we will have 2 Former North Carolina Alumni on our QB roster. Trubisky and Howell

No to Howell. Steelers have bigger needs at O-line, D-line, ILB and CB.

This is great for the QB competition, but I'm not sold on Trubisky. Looking at his stats to Mason's they are comparable. I know this will be unpopular with the negative nannies, but I still think Mason is better than he is given credit for. Steve Young is probably the only QB to step into a HOF QB's spot and play well. Yes, I know many can point to Rodgers, but he was highly criticized for the first two seasons. Especially when Favre came back in a Vikings uniform and beat the Packers twice. Obviously, not looking for Ben to come back in another uniform, but just saying anyone following Ben will be criticized.

Poor Mason. I somewhat like the move. Its better than going in with Mason as the starter, but I am unsure how Mitch will be. He wasn't in the most stable of situations in Chicago. I don't follow the bears too closely but they have had a lot of turnover with the coaching staff. He got to see how Josh Allen operated last year, so hopefully he learned a thing or two and comes ready to compete.

If the steelers can fix a few other issues which is a big IF it could give the team a chance to make and compete in the playoffs.

Yeah seems to be more realistic people here who know there wasn't much to go after inFA or the draft. Unless we want to give up a lot of trades and kill our cap space.

That's not a big if. Gets us a decent center. With a very nice guard. And then get an ILB. And draft a CB in the second.

Yeah they will and can def feel the needs. I guess I more meant if these guys actually produce on the field. I think this seals the deal on Juju leaving not that everyone on here wants him to stay.

And apparently Jimmy cannot even throw till camp. send a draft pick, get stuck with a 25 million salary for an injured arm QB. No thanks.

I think Mason will give us a top 10 backup and that's not bad.

Pretty sure Haskin money is guaranteed, it will probably be bye bye Mason.

Mason had his shot last year and the duck year and he failed. Time to move on

Because it's just a 2 year deal, I think it's a good move. Now, that stance changes if they also spend a premium draft pick on a quarterback this year. Then I'll be wondering about this move - WHY? But assuming they use the draft on the rest of the issues on this roster, this move allows them to be more open going into the 2023 offseason in re-evaluating the quarterback position again. And that will prove to be a good thing, even if a lot of people can't see that right now.

The sports media reporters who made up the rumor. There were a couple. Worst of which was yesterday where the guy said it was a done deal.
