Steelers have signed free agent DT Daniel Ekuale per his agent.

Ekuale was with the Patriots last year.

He’s been mostly a depth piece but last season took on the starting job and had a good season. Had a great game against Miami. He’s good agains the run.

    Upgrade from Larry O.

Statistically in terms of pruduction per snap an upgrade vs. the run and downgrade as a pass rusher.

He's not that sort of fringe player. He is a solid starter, not some practice squad guy.

I like this signing. They need to upgrade their run defense and he should help them do it.

In the 2024 season, Daniel Ekuale had a slightly better overall performance than Larry Ogunjobi. Ekuale played in all 16 games and started every one, contributing 52 total tackles compared to Ogunjobi's 41, despite Ogunjobi having a slight edge in sacks (1.5 vs. 1.0). Ekuale’s higher tackle numbers suggest he was more active in stopping the run and making plays across the line of scrimmage. Additionally, his consistent presence as a starter throughout the season highlights his reliability and importance to the Patriots' defensive line. Ogunjobi was still solid, but Ekuale's production in 2024 gives him the edge.

He seems to be a stronger run defender. He isn't much of a pass rusher, but Ogunjobi has fallen off in that area. He also doesn't seem to have the same injury issues that have been a problem for Ogunjobi.

In my opinion, he's a new face with about same production. You don't lose and you don't gain.I think Ekuale is slightly more active vs the run.

That brought back memories of Arthur Godfrey. I know there might be 3 of us here who remember him.

I don't care to watch the Patriots unless they are getting pounded on so I've not seen him play. Is he a solid 0- technique? Possibly a multitool 0 and 1 technique DT?
