Wallace is only listed at 6'. There isn't a receiver over 6'2" on the roster. (listed at anyway)

The problem with things like that is that it was based off one little tweet by Bouchette.

Thought I saw where Ed was quoting sources inside the organization. Can I be in the Organization for a day? Wonder how much these sources get?

You guys would be going crazy. I'd just be making up crap to see the writers heads spin!??

It's true! I think it's fun reading all of this. I'm not in the organization, I don't know what others are thinking, or what their tendencies are so this is the closest I can get to really getting "inside" information. Whether this stuff is true or not, I find it fun. Sometimes I think the most fun is when they say one thing will happen and something completely different happens. :hehehe: Altough I will admit, it can be very, very frustrating at times.

I seem to remember a wallace quote earlier this year that he would sign "when I had to". I wonder if he's getting that feeling now? Really admire the way our front office handles it's business!

there is a rumor going around that brown's contract was originally offered to wallace and he turned it down............the steelers' f.o. turned around and then gave it to brown, who has been saying all the right things from day one, and showcasing an A+ attitude.............. either way, a message has been sent. congrats to a.b., and i look forward to great things from him this season. :superman:

I'm surprised at the 42 million Brown got. That could have been Wallaces contract if he didnt miff the steeler front office by refusing to sign his 2.7 mill tender offer. This whole wallace contract thing was centered on him signing that tender offer, the steelers wanted him to commit to them first, then they would have comitted to him with a long term deal, wallace needs to get a new agent because his present agent gave him some pretty bad advice. We know they wont negotiate a deal with a holdout, Mike will be making a big mistake if he doesnt sign that tender as soon as possible and get into camp to begin the process of getting back into the good graces of the Steelers front office..

Wow. He looks quite a bit taller than that to me. Maybe he's just skinny or something.

Cothchery is the tallest starting receiver at 6-1. We have a 6-2 rook receiver, Toney Clemons, and a 1 year receiver Juamorris Stewart who is 6-2 and Brown is listed at 5-10. Our shortest receiver in camp is rookie marquis maze listed at 5-8. The tall receiver we did draft in the second round 4 years ago for Ben, was 6-4 from U of Texas who turned out to be a bust, we have other receivers in camp but no one who is 6-3 or taller...

This is where those reports originate from, but I've not heard him list any kind of source.

I was looking at some Youtube highlights of the draft pick, Tony Clemmons who ran the 40 in 4.36 at the combine. Hopefully he will pan out and become the speed guy in Wallace's absence.

Unless Clemons suddenly gets new hands (Im hoping) he will not be a fan favorite.....If you didn't like Sweed...you will not like Clemons

Maybe I'm a slow learner, but I think Sweed mentally broke down and it wasn't managed well by him and the staff. I just don't understand how an athlete can be great in college and not transition to the NFL even at a mediocre level. So much of a collapse has to be because of other elements than they just forget how to run, tackle and catch. How did they have it at first and where does it go....?

I still think Sweed could be nurtured into a player in the right hands. It was his injury that sealed the poor guys future. he still had had a window.

With all that, I don't think the comparison is quite accurate. Clemons might have the same low level of "success", but it seems it would be more because he's less talented than Sweed was. Maybe he's stronger mentally and it all comes together...

I still want Sweed in Pitt for another go round....but Sweed dropped like 3 or 4 balls in his career...and People say he can't catch....Clemons will drop 3 or 4 a game.

I didnt realize this but Brown has only started 3 games in his career (though he got a lot of playing time even though he didnt start) and he got himself a nice deal...wow.

See... Wallace DID have a plan, after all...
He could look like the bad guy, and get his partner in the "young money crew", a big deal, by looking like the good guy... ;-) :roflmao:
Seriously, tho, I think this is GREAT!! :clapping:
It`s nice to see Brown being rewarded for doing things the right way, and saying all the right things.
And after all, he WAS voted the team MVP, by the players last season. That says a lot. Hard to believe he only STARTED 3 games last season. I read that from another post on this thread, and find it hard to believe, but I will assume the poster knew what they were talking about, because I honestly don`t know how many starts he had, and am not gonna make the effort to research it.
While I would like to see Wallace get a long term contract, and continue to stretch the field for us, and his fellow receivers, I DO believe the front office just sent him a loud and clear message, that he would be wise to hear! :good:
While we may be a bit better with him, we will STILL be just fine, without him! :yeehaw:
    GO STEELERS!!! :herewego:

And as for the "tall receiver", thing...
Even tho he is a tight end, not technically a receiver, isn`t that Pope guy that we signed as a free agent this year listed as over 6 foot 4? Forget his first name, right now, he played for Haley before. Leonard, maybe?
Edit, just looked at the roster, yeah, Leonard, listed at 6` 8"... Nice endzone threat from the redzone, that Ben has been wanting... :praying:

yeah, simple reason: "starters" are the guy on the field at the first snap.
And from what I recall, the personnel group for the first snap usually was 2wr/2te/1rb with #17 and Ward as the WRs.

You're speculating Clemons will drop 3 or 4 with the Steelers, but Sweed has proven he will drop passes. Big difference.

Yeah for sure TTF. I was thinking the same thing. Its kind of like the shot across the bow . This is one of the reasons I love this organization. Pay the players who show you dedication and commitment and Brown oooozes with the right stuff.
