While I agree He seems like a good kid.
Being a solid, or good kid doesn't equal into good Qb.
I watched a kid that couldn't cut it at Auburn....leave ,and go 2 a small school, and couldn't shine there either.
Does He have the physical talent...Yes(exactly why Auburn got him).....but as We have seen many times ....that means little.
Every time I see this thread come up my stomach quivers :puking 3:

You may want to watch the first round with an empty stomach. I kind of expect that we will make a big move if he gets to the Giants’ pick at #7. Maybe even #5.

As much as they seem to like him, I don’t believe they will do that. I think they have set themselves up in FA to let the draft come to them and take their chances next draft for a QB if one doesn’t fall to them that they like this year.

To move from 12 to 3 last year the 9ers swapped 1st's, gave up a 3rd, and their next 2 1sts. The point value system is thrown to the wind at this point, and I do not believe past trade values are necessarily in effect. To make that move would cost an insane amount. For the Herbert's and Alken success stories there are far more who are either just medicore or outright busts. I know it's the cost of a possible franchise QB, but the downside can literally set the franchise back years.

I agree that it’s a crazy price to pay. However in a “bad” QB year the price is not going to be as steep. Back in 2013 the Dolphins went from #12 to #3, and it only cost them the #42 overall pick. If someone really wants an extra first round pick in 2022, they may take a deal that’s nowhere near the Trey Lance or RG3 trade payoffs because there may be nobody else offering that 2023 first rounder.

I sure as hell hope it doesn’t happen, but I could see a deal being done for something less than what the 49ers paid. It would most certainly involve our 2023 first rounder. If I’m in the Giants’ shoes, I’m looking to find a way to get at least 1 2023 first rounder out of my extra top 10 pick. It gives them the opportunity to give 1 more year to test Jones, and then have ammo for his replacement if he continues to falter.

Could be..and of the Steelers are that high on him that deal may make sense to them. As you said it's all about trading partners and expectations. The one team few are talking about are eagles who have 2 picks just before us and could upset the balance of the draft. Should be an interesting evening.

Although if Willis gets to the Saints, I can see the Steelers jumping them.

That was my thought. I agree they set themselves up for the draft to come to them, but also have shown in the past if the right deal is there they will move up. It really is a hard year to read, but it does seem like Willis is moving up and could be gone early.

The Eagles vlove trading too. If the go up to 16 to get him. Fine. I still think it sucks. But give up a 2 next year to move up 4 spots, cool.

Anything above that is a travesty.

For the record, I don't want him. Just resigning myself to the fact that the Steelers do.

I don't agree if they trade up to get any of the QB's that the team trading with is going to say "Well your right, its a weak QB class so we will cut you some slack" :lolol: They will get multiple picks, picks at this point that can be used to solidify the foundation. You stay at 20. There are multiple teams that need a QB before us and a trade partner especially if they know you covet a few will be a draft pick blood bath.

We traded up to get an average at best ILBer at this point. Hopefully his knee brain will teach him how to read defenses.

Saints traded away their 2023 1st round pick(and swaping of other picks) to Eagles, so they now have two 1st round picks 16 and 18.

But they have two shots to grab a QB if they do so target one.

Saints will definitely be targeting a QB now. If Steelers have their eye on someone, they will need to jump 5 spots now instead of 3.

Not really sure why the Saints would do this deal, Im not even sure I have ever seen a trade like this.

Not a bad move by the Eagles, still have 2 firsts this year and next. Might go with Barrett this year and in a good place to move up next, still a boat load of picks to build positions.

Pro Football Network's Oliver Hodgkinson had a recent NFL Mock Draft on the idea of the Steelers literally trading up the Sun, Moon, Earth, Stars and the Solar System. Link to his draft is found here. All this said, I personally will not be surprised one bit if it does have to come to this. Again, trading up for a LB is one aspect. Trading up for a potential Franchise Signal Caller? That is an entirely different set of circumstances there for that can change a Franchise should that guy prove to be "the guy". All this said however, I have my doubts that the likes of New Orleans and, most notably, Carolina are going to just sit by and watch Pittsburgh leapfrog to 5 to nab Willis; doubly so in New Orleans' case. For all we know in all honesty, who is to say that Atlanta is not going to be a player in all of this? I would imagine that Atlanta will have nothing to lose after missing out on the "Deshaun Watson Sweepstakes" no less.

Truth be told, for Pittsburgh to nab Willis, I suspect that the team will have to aim higher than the likes of the Giants. The team may have to go top four to nab him. However, I personally do not believe the team is going to entertain the idea of acquiring Willis any higher than five. Now the question becomes as to which offer the Giants like more overall? Never mind that though. Is Malik even going to be on the board? People keep mocking him to Detroit but there has been no indication of the Lions having any interest. Malik does have Pre Draft Visits lined up with multiple teams but the main ones are the likes of Carolina, Atlanta and New Orleans. Who is to say that Detroit will not change their minds leading up to draft day?! Such occurrences have happened before and I expect such to happen again.

In short?! Pittsburgh has done all they can to see which QB will be in play for either Pick 20 or moving up to acquire one as soon as possible. All I can say is this; prepare for the Top Half of the First Round to have trades the likes of which one has not seen before in a decade plus.
