If they feed Bryant can he reach those #'s ?
If they feed Coates can he reach those #'s ?
If they feed DHB can he reach those #'s ?
If they feed Green can he reach those #'s ?

I would say yes to all of the above .Thus he is not a guy who's production could not be replaced bringing hid roster value down from the way I look at it ...

I see our WR depth as good to great and our DB situation as horrid . We need DB'S a lot more than the 750 yards a year that Wheaton offered .Heck we have DB'S who will probably give that much up in 2 games...

I think like a front office, you think like someone playing franchise mode in a video game....

I think Wheaton is better than you are giving him credit for. He did have a 200 yard game (I think in AB's absence).

If Coates was a little further along and they knew what they had in him, trading Wheaton might be plausible but as is, they can't risk shipping him off. Keep him and then pick up a comp for him later on.

Yea, it's just a tad bit more complicated than "feed those guys".

You absolutely keep Wheaton this year. Fits well, good depth, trying to win #7. You just don't bother keeping him next year unless something unforeseen happens to another WR (i.e. Coates bombs, or Bryant gets busted, or whatever). He's not that special, especially when you have to pay other guys. Take the comp pick and add a WR in the draft. Circle of [WR] life in Pittsburgh.

Agree you got to keep Wheaton at least for this year. Also you got to play Coates enough to see what he has. Just hope that DHB doesn't take snaps away from Coates because we need for him to get his touches and get experience. We know what we have in DHB and I think Coates has more upside and could be a dangerous receiver for us.

If Bryant stays out of trouble another year and we see that Coates is coming along next year then yah we can and should trade Wheaton then.

I trust Haley to get them all in the game. I still think that Ben tends to hone in on one guy too much, but I guess it's also for those not named AB to show him why he should throw to them...

I'd rather have Wheaton this year and a 3rd round pick for him next year, than trade Wheaton this year in return for a pick this year. Some team will offer him ridiculous money in FA and we won't sign anyone to match, so we're all but assured of a 3rd round comp pick for losing him.

I usually try to trust the coaches to get them in the game, but sometimes I think there stubbornness gets in the way. Like last year I thought Coates could of gotten more snaps during the year instead of waiting until AB was hurt, and also like Boykin instead of Blake as it was obvious to everyone else.

Most of the time they are right, but you do see brain farts every once in a while.

Good thing someone didn't trade Wheaton for a mid round draft pick... With Martavis now facing a year long suspension

    No doubt.
Regardless of Bryant's situation there was no good reason to trade him anyway. Couldn't understand that logic.

LOL, it's amazing. But in reading the Post Gazett on line daily I was always waiting for the day when this would happen with Bryant, unfortunately it came a lot sooner then expected. I'm not sure what they should do with this kid. He just got unbelievable talent that doesn't come around often and such a big loss to the team.
