Dude was clutch, lol, looked like he was still in HS.
I wish him well. Unless Belicheat turns him into Mr. Automatic.
Does the front office have amnesia?
Somewhat inevitable. No need to take 3 kickers into camp, and McCrane wasn’t a season long answer.
We’ll see what Wright has to offer competition wise. At the least he’ll give Dobbs someone to talk to about space.
Oh, AWESOME! What in the hell am I supposed to do with my McCrane jersey now????? Damn Colbert and Tomlin!!!!!!
At least the guy can say he made 100% of his kicks as a Pittsburgh Steeler. He will go down as LEGEND!!!!!!
With as bad as Bos was they need to try out as many as they can.
If there is reason to believe that Bos has gotten over this past year, and is back to the form he had for the first 3 years, then try outs are not needed.
Only 90 on the roster at this point, can’t stock it with too many kickers. I imagine that they’ll look at Bos and Wright, and if one of them isn’t up to scratch, swap them for another kicker later.
At the end of last season he seemed to have righted the ship. But it was a pretty small sample size.
I don't know. I feel like once a kicker gets the shanks...
Didn't Boswell finish the season on IR?
"McCrane with a 3.8 GPA in Aerospace Engineering and wants to become an Astronaut" ................well you're on your way Son, the Steelers just sent you (POW) right to the Moon!
Yes, he missed game 16. Again, a small sample, but he looked more confident in games 14 & 15. IMHO
True, I think he was 3 for 3 to end his season. Maybe he actually was struggling with a 'lower body injury' for most of the season, since that's what he went on IR for.
I doubt that. Otherwise that would have been a legitimate excuse for his misses that they would have had no problem disclosing.
Maybe they didn't know until late in the season, due to an antique x-ray machine.
Wish the Steelers the best moving forward!
I do want to help set the record straight re: McCrane or at least get some information out.
I’m biased and want to respond to those that were talking about his weight, kickoff depth, etc. All which rarely lose games like missed EP’s and FG’s.
McCrane #7 ALL time NCAA career % accuracy. Broke many of Gramatica’s records, College Freshman All American. NEVER missed an extra point in college or NFL (1 blocked freshman year). 5 NFL games played, 2 game balls. Perfect for two NFL teams, Missed 4 FG’s ( 2 off dirt in Oakland(1 moving when kicked) and a 57 yd against the wind before half as hitting 60 yarders pregame the other direction.
One game for Steelers, kicked once in 3 weeks prior and lost 10 pounds as thought season over. Practiced 1 1/2 hours pregame and went 100% but YES, not that pretty and kickoffs short due to limited practice. Kicked for 5 1/2 years and thought season over after getting cut by Cardinals for the 3rd time, even though 100% all kicks preseason and 1 in season. Lesson learned but wanted to point out the facts to his rookie year.
Once again, best wishes to Steelers this coming year and to Boswell’s return to form.
And best of luck to McCrane. Hopefully he finds another team and sticks.
Sounds like you’ve followed his career to date?
Yeah, but will the new kicker have time to learn or scheme?
