If they were to IR him he would have still counted against the cap? Correct?

Are you suggesting that this could be one of those personal training off team premises Covid Injuries? If that is the case doesn't this free up his full 14 million with him repaying his 5 mill bonus?

Yes, and they couldn’t afford to be without a right guard until the middle of the season. Given DeCastros salary I think their decision is very understandable, albeit regrettable.

Understood and I am no cap guru. It appears the team was not informed of the severity of the injury as reports said they were surprised he was not able to take part in OTA.s, which was expected. None of us really know the depth of how this worked out at the end of last season until his release, but all appearances suggest they expected DD to be able to play this year. With that understanding the 9 million was really never in play during that part of the off season, so it is really hard to think in the terms of 'what if" when what if was never there.

As I said in an earlier post, even if the team could go after that money, what message does it send. DD gave a lot to this franchise, was a fan fave, and played well. It could be argued he was under paid, he never griped or held out for more money. If he had went out and did something stupid like break a leg sky diving and doing such activities were against his contract..maybe. Even with that, these injuries were not something like that, this team is not going to go after money that was rightfully owed for something he had no control over, especially a guy who one day may wel get his name in the Steeler org.. HOF. If they start getting that petty, just see how hard it will be to get FA's here, let alone keep the guys you want to re-sign.

I think it mostly breaks down to Moore being a 4th round pick that isn't good enough. No, he was a 3 year starter at left tackle on the best line in the SEC. If okrafor struggles, they have options.

I agree, plus 3rd round isn’t exactly scraps to begin with but I bet you any other year Green is at least a 2nd rd pick.

Just like the B.S. with Ben and disrespecting him, Nelson with the held hostage comment the longer this DD thing goes on the more it keeps getting ugly and just bad bad bad.

we will have at least two and a half games where they can look at this line before ben has to be on the field under live fire. adjustments can be made in that 3 week period if needed. i don't see them just putting 5 out there and not tweaking it if needed before the season starts.

I'm thinking Mason is praying Ben stays healthy the whole 17 games now.;)

Brand new OL, multiple inexperienced CBs getting massive playing time, no depth at several key positions, aging DL potentially hitting the wall are other reasons.

We can all convince ourselves that we're good on paper and then three drives into the opener, if the Bills DL is collapsing the LOS and Diggs is running free, that paper goes up in smoke.

"Revamped" with average RT switching to LT, unknown RT coming off major knee surgery, rookie G at C, 2nd year LG, RG coming off injury plagued year.

Still a completely different line, changes were made. It’s better than rolling out the same line. You don’t know how they will perform anymore than I do.

This was a very deep draft.

Also not 2 mention the evaluation method was way different. I think 3 players we got would have gone higher had there been no Covid, and the restrictions that came with it in evaluating players

This is why I have some hope. Either way it sounds like Decastro is going to have a rough year with his ankle. Hope the best for him the move makes sense at least they have a veteran presence.

I have my concerns about the line also but hope this unit can gel together to be effective

I have no confidence in Chuks to do anything this year at LT, but be a problem.

Have not really heard any reports about Dan Moore from rookie camp, OTAs, or the last mini-camp on how he is doing. I was hoping with 36 career starts at LT in the SEC he would turn out to be a nice find in the draft that could challenge Chuks for the LT position this year.

I imagine things would be different if Tunch & Wolf were still reporting from the locker room.

According to Kaboly, Marsh was victimizing Moore in drills.

Won’t read too much into that, a rookie in his first NFL camp and he did list Marsh as one of the better participants in camp.

Just be careful with what he writes, I take it with a grain of salt.

He made Ballage sound like he was Walter Payton mixed in with a little Jesus, compared to all the other running backs.

He says that, it’s football in shorts, take it for what it’s worth.

I don’t know why Ballage has not been more successful, I’m hoping it comes together for him here.
