Hood cannot play NT. He's barely 300 lbs soaking wet and wouldn't be able to handle a double team by a long shot. If not Snack, then Ta’amu is our NT.

Wonder why he made that leap...from Hampton to Hood. McLendon seems the more obvious candidate there.

Unless the article has been updated I'm not sure what you guys are talking about... I see them with Casey at Nose tackle... I agree with their defense, and I think that Keenan Lewis will be the starter day 1, although I wouldn't be shocked if it was Allen.

I think they are way off on the offensive line. Our day 1 OL (barring injury) will be Gilbert, DeCastro, Pouncey, Foster, Colon. The FO has said they think Gilbert has the feet to play LT, and that's the plan until he fails, or if/when Mike Adams REALLY impresses which I don't expect to happen this season. I would put money on Colon NEVER playing guard for us, people have been saying it for years.

Under Hampton it says "Could start on PUP, which would push Hood to nose tackle and Cameron Heyward into the starting lineup."

It's the part about who will start if Casey is PUP.

    Durrr, my bad.

No, McClendon will start, with Ta'Amu rotating in.

Any chance Heyward challenges Hood for the starting spot opposite Keisel?
I know a lot of folks around here are underwhelmed by Hood as a DT and I definitely don't see him being successful at NT.

From the "starting lineup" perspective only, that IMO is our best lineup. There are a lot of role players that will do other things to make us successful, but that is my lineup if all things go as they should.

I believe that I heard last year that Hood was the strongest player on the team. That other huge nose tackle (Gray?) last preseason claimed he was stronger...anyway... Hood is also 305lb i believe. Maybe he lacks the athleticism to play d-end but can play Nose especially if he bulks up?... Maybe Hood and McClendon play nickel which actually is kinda a 4-2 for the steelers defense so they would be d-tackles. Hood and McClendon may be versatile with Ta'amu and Hampton as true nt's and Kiesel and Hayward as true d-ends.

Possibilities... Changes are coming and camp will be competitive. This steeler team has the most depth that I can remember.

Yeah Colon won't. Realistically, If Adams comes on and becomes LT....Gilbert will go to the right and COlon will be cut because of that contract he signed. He won't get paid like his is now for being a RG.

They said after the draft they are looking to stop the musical chairs on the o-line. I think Adams makes the LT position for that reason and because once the the meat of the season is underway he will be less of a rookie and more of a vet. Colon needs to start doing more giving and less taking. He hasn't been able to contribute in a long time. Get your fat ass over to tackle and STHU.

What I want to know is how are the stats totaled? Ike successfully defended less than 2 passes per game last year? How is that possible?

i disagree. i think they have no choice but to keep colon. he took a restrcture and we are still on the hook for alot of money toward the cap with him. the reason they haven't moved him to guard was because we didn't have anyone set in place to play RT long term. now we do and most likely wish they wouldn't have signed him to that type of contract but options were limited.
