Sounds like the Steelers are going to pass on Breaston for now. (Per PPG)

Why do you think he said that he was thinking about having knee surgery after meeting with steelers? Wouldn't this discourage other teams from taking a look at him? He really want to be a Steeler!

With the depth of talent in this year's WR class, I strongly doubt that someone signs Sanders to an offer sheet. I could probably find a few WRs available in R3 that I would prefer to Sanders, and only have to pay a rookie contract.

The big Black and Gold elephant in the room is we have NO money to speak of. We will be a fringe playoff team with about a 60-40 chance of making them until we weed out the Big money older players. I don't like it but sometimes the truth hurts.

I read this morning that Breaston is considering the same knee surgery that Kobe Bryant and Alex Rodriguez had. It was a little blurb on NFL Network. Did anyone else see that? That may have given us pause.

Edit: Sorry defva, just saw your post above. Wonder how serious the knee is?

Yeah, yesterday was the first I've heard of any recent knee issues, Jack. According to the article I read, he feels his knee is "fine" so you'd think it's not too serious, but it's safe to presume that he'll be on the market for a while with such a question mark.

    From the article:

"Breaston feels his knee is fine but he is being advised by his family and one of his agents, Eric Metz, to explore this revolutionary procedure..."

"Breaston believes he could pass a physical now and sign a one-year deal with Pittsburgh, but he is said to be seeking a longer-term solution to his knee problems, said the source. He plans to continue to train and improve his knee until he is ready to sign with an NFL team."

Just to update this, Breaston will not be having the knee procedure, and has been cleared to play by Dr.'s.

I think this title needs to be changed with the addition of....for now.

The whole knee issue may simply be a way to stall so he can wait to sign a contract.
