Steelers need to blitz up the middle or AR will surgically pick this defense apart.

What’s the alternative? We can’t keep getting eaten up with our soft zone.

Yes I agree with this. I am not saying we blitz on every play but at least mix it up and blitz more than we have been. We gotta fake a little more risk. We were to vanilla in the two losses this year. No risk it no biscuit.
Need to see more from Benton and play Porter in press man that’s his strength. Don’t forget Rodgers doesn’t gave the same mobility he used too.

Tomlin is scared of giving up the big play and would rather tackle the catch and keep it to a long tedious slow drive. Then when they get in the red zone he will get more aggressive with a blitz as you have less ground to cover on the back end. Even they s ire and they have long drives it keeps the game low scoring because in theory they gave Jess drives.

I don’t see them playing man press on both perimeters because Jackson can’t play press man. He us strictly a zone corner from what understand.

I would like to see the ILB’s adjust their depth and alternate it and mix it up each play when they are in zone to make it less obvious to the wr’s and qb when running routes in the middle. Right now we kind settle in the same predictable spot neither cover shallow it deeper crossing routes.

You do on know that was Cowher, and Dick LeBeau philosophy also. Make them drive the field, and see if they can do it without making a mistake. I would say that leading the league in points allowed, and leading the league in turnovers in the red zone says that this is working. We blitz a about 23% of a game. So we are mixing it in here , and there. What some of you expect from the Defense is mind boggling in today's NFL with every rule against them so the offense can score. How about we don't be the bottom half in scoring on offense, and help the Defense out a bit.

I was looking at the defensive stats last night and alot of the good defensives stop the run and are high in the turnover margin and putting pressure on the QB. So based on that we are similar to them in those areas. KC is a team that plays a ton of man to man and blitzes alot. I love that style. You are right about Cowher and Lebeau. I do think however they blitzed more. Last night we blitzed a little more and we played a little more man to man. I was very happy with the defense.

I think there were some reasons why we were playing so conservative the prior weeks. Didn’t have Highmsith in. We were playing more conservative on offense keeping the score closer and as aaresult it forced us to take less risks on defense as well. With us up more later in the game we were willing to take more risks. It also helped with Ogunjobi playing well and Beani Bishop playing well.

I also owe you a big time apology and admit I was wrong in wanting them to stick with Fields. Russ made me eat crow and I gladly will. Legs hope he can keep this up. The bounced are way last night but even the fact we were pushing the ball down field last night made a huge difference in the offensive line play and the run game. I am amazed how well the offensive line played last night.

No apologies needed, but I really appreciate it, and it takes a man to do it.
I want to say I was forsure that Wilson would get it done,,but I wasn't. What I was 100% sure of was.....there have been targets open every game, and it was driving me crazy when people were saying nobody was getting open.....because they were....we just needed a Qb to get them the ball.

    I think we all under
estimated the importance and value experience brings especially when reading defenses and making proper presnap adjustments. I think this is where Fiekds can really sit back and learn from Russ. Fields showed me enough where I believe he can be the future. He is certainly humble enough to learn. The line issue is Russ doesn’t pass over the middle well and I get it he can’t see the middle of the field. My question is can we play consistently well not throwing to the middle if the field? I don’t know. You would think it would make it much easier for the defense to defend the sidelines.

I do see why now the Steelers were and are interested in Williams. He is a good contested catch perimeter receiver which fits Russ’s style.
