Steelers opening day in Cleveland - advice?

Hey guys, planning a trip to Cleveland in September with 3 friends, we'll be driving there from Montreal/Ottawa for opening day (September 10th) between Steelers and Browns.

2 of us are avid Steelers fans, and another will also be wearing Steelers gear. We are planning on getting there early and partaking in the tailgate, hopefully with some other Steelers fans (who will be many, I believe).

I suppose some of you have already been to a Steelers game in Cleveland so I am wondering if it is a good idea to wear our Steelers gear or if you'd advise against it. We will not be sitting in the Dawg Pound and are really more of the low profile type, so not the type to start any **** with anyone.

Reading a few discussions on Reddit still got me nervous though with multiple stories of beer pouring and Browns fan cursing at opposing fans. I've never seen anything like that at a sports event so I just wanted to know if this was more the exception than the rule?

I've not been to Cleveland but I have been elsewhere. Although there are jerks everywhere in the world most opposing fans are just good people. Ignore the jerks and you should be fine. Plus it's a day game, that helps.

99.9% of all confrontations are avoidable. Just don't take the bait. Enjoy the game and memories.

 

They are animals up in North East Ohio. They have been known to slash PA plates
tires up there. As one poster mentioned ignore the idiots and you should be fine.

 

make yourself look big. oh wait, thats for bears. ok do that in chicago. make yourself look dumb. that should do it. or tell them your next years first round qb draft pick.
