Our lack of a legit RB1 hurt is big time this year. Dobbins would give us a real RB that we haven't had since Bell left.

He is a good option.... assuming he does not get selected within the top half of the second round.

Any of the Top 5 RBs will do. They all should be BPA when we pick at #50.

    D'Andre Swift - Georgia
    Jonathan Taylor - Wisconsin
    JK Dobbins - Ohio St
    Chuba Hubbard - Oklahoma St
    Travis Etienne - Clemson

I do tend to lean more to the Taylor/Hubbard/Dobbins type. The only remedy to a Roethlisberger injury is to have a true #1 RB.

I think Conner could be that guy, but his health can't be trusted at this point. He needs to be considered more of a #2.

Dobbins would be a major upgrade at RB. Problem is... the OL has regressed and the Steelers need help there too. Whoever we get at RB will have tough sledding until OL issues are ironed out.

Got to see how these guys are in pass protection. A feature back needs to be able to pick up blitzers.

    Glad someone caught this.

Scratch off Dobbins. Among the five NB listed, he is the second worst; Hubbard being the first. Taylor offers the best rounded skillset of the five.

That said, he is likley a late first rounder anyways.

Yeah for all 6 of them ...we'll have to wait for Ben and MT to go before we can think about #7

We should take a look at the kid at LSU. He could drop to us in the draft, his number is #22. He’s a good runner with a low center of gravity.

Guess I am in the minority, I like Snell. I made a thread in the beginning of the season that he will take Conners job, I'm still standing by that.

Limited draft capital this year, don't think they can afford to spend one on a RB, only reason I would is if you want a pass catching back but Henry of the Titans showed a good old fashioned RB can still be dominant.

Snell should be able to make a jump in year 2. Who knows, maybe they can add pass catching to his repertoire.

I like Snell too. He lacks breakaway speed but I think he can be very productive in year 2 and if Conner can be used more sparingly and as a pass catcher maybe they will be ok there. I’d still try to pick up a RB in FA or later in the draft if they see someone they like, but not in the second round.

Not picking Dobb(in)s will cost us our season!

Although I believe the Steelers will take a RB,
I don't see Dobbins being in play for us. AJ Dillion will work
just fine for when we pick a RB.

Snell is an ok back up. He doesn't have a good burst. There was definitely a difference in the busts of Conner and Snell. Maybe Snell can get faster in the off season? I think the Steelers need to add another RB if possible. The salary cap situation my limit their options.

Great point and we really should be rebuilding our OL as a priorty cause if we don't it won't matter who our RB1 is and for the health of our QB. If Ben continued playing with the OL blocking the backups got we may have lost him permanently. JMO

I don't believe Bettis was a speed demon either and did ok. Its all about the line blocking in my opinion.

You are not the only one Blast! :)

My issue is not Snell. My issue is with James Conner. He cannot stay healthy even if you gave him a contract worth the Net Worth of Bill Gates!

I do agree though that, assuming that the Pro Day Visits do not indicate that the team will opt for a Running Back, we need an Interior Offensive Lineman. More specifically, the highest rated Center or Guard on the board.

This team CANNOT allow what happened to Ben happen to Mason.

Well that just depressed me. We don't have a pick until 50. That hurts. I don't really follow college football but I can't imagine a legit NFL RB will be around then.

That’s right around where we picked Bell. Kareem hunt was in the third round, Derrick Henry and Nick Chubb were in the second, Alvin Kamara was in the fourth. Point is runnings backs can be had in the later rounds, personally I think our needs line up pretty well with our Draft position, that being a TE and a RB. First round is normally QB’s, Pass Rushers and Corners.

Never say never. The position has been so de-valued despite so important.

I don't think any of these guys are on the Elliott/Barkley scale so I don't think any of them come flying off the board.

I certainly would think atleast 1 or a couple could still be around @ #50.

Chuba Hubbard is the best option.

I think Ben needs a pass catcher if we want a chance the next few years. He will resist the handoff in favor of the dump down, look at our offense formations. RB by committee or a featured back would work I think but not for the next few years. Grab a stud for the next 3-4 years, see what happens.
