I’m losing interest in this sport. RB’s deserve more credit for their work in this league.

Why should this come as a surprise? I hope they manage to trade him for something.

What other choice do they have? This offense has not really missed a beat without him.

I stated it multiple times in the off-season before all this drama started. An RB is made by its O-Line and we have one of the best in the entire league. We don’t need an all pro RB to be good. Especially not one that takes up so much cap. $15 million.

Conner has shown that he can take over the position with not too much of a difference.

I mean, I’m not sure how this can be considered a surprise or bad thing for the Steelers. The only thing the Steelers could get next year is a 3rd round comp pick for him.

If they trade him now to a team desperate for RB talent, they would get a ton more than a late 3rd. Hell, maybe even a pick and an impact player on defense that could help us this year. I have no clue what kind of package he could get.

But we will see where this goes and if any offers start to be leaked and it picks up serious steam. But looking at it on its face, I’m not sure how this can be construed as a bad move.

Good riddance, I don't want him back on the team. Colbert should be calling the Jets or 49ers also the Colts.

Just out of curiosity, how much do you think Bell should be paid? 14.5 million, just under 1 million per game seems like a pretty good living.

This is good to hear, why not see what you can get...

One possible side effect....does it send AB84 a message that no one is safe???

I`m not surprised. I don`t see a way for him to be playing for us anymore.

Makes sense. Conner has earned the opportunity. They need to repair the culture.

I don't really understand how it works on the franchise tag. Will teams have the opportunity to discuss a possible extension with him?

Once again, a team that gets obsessive local coverage - by 3 TV stations, sports radio, two newspapers - gets a major story reported by a national outlet. Maybe, the locals need to put down their pompous abnd do some reporting.

I have to believe that Bell's trade value is rather low right now. Not many teams will be willing to sell the farm for this headache. That being said I hope they find a new home for this clown.

So glad to see this! I was hoping they’d try to unload him. If they get a first, I’ll be ecstatic.

Never hoping for an injury to someone, but if a RB goes down today that could change the whole landscape imo

I’m just sick of the damn drama. The Steelers are a joke and Bell is a huge part of the reason. He’s an amazing talent but it’s not worth it, especially if he’s not even playing. Grow up, man.

We need to figure out how to get Earl Thomas from the Seahawks, maybe work a trade with them since it would mean we would seldomly play against Bell.

Seeing that Steelers are selling under duress, that the team he goes to has to pick up a big salary, and Bell appears to be out of shape and he's one drug test away from a years suspension. I'd offer a 2nd rounder next yr, and see if Colbert says yes.

It would be interesting to see what teams are interested. It would have to be a contender that thinks it needs a good RB. Who might that be? GB? The wouldn't trade him to NE or Balt?

I’m curious.... if the Steelers are prevented from negotiating a new contract until after the season..... how would a trade work? Would the trade partner try to sign him to the franchise tender? Would pit have to sign him to the franchise contract first? Curious.

Bell would have to sign his tag tender first, which effectively gives him veto power over any trade.

The new team would step into the Steelers’ shoes, meaning they’d shoulder his $14.4MM salary and the prohibition on negotiating a deal past this year.

How does any team have enough cap space to pay him this year?

Honestly, I’d offer a low draft pick. The Steelers would be getting certainty, eliminating a massive distraction, healing team unity, and opening up a ton of cap space. Meanwhile, I’m taking on his prorated salary and the very tangible risk that he leaves for another team after my half-season rental.

This was my intial reaction as well but teams are always thinking as long as we pay him he will be happy.
