Of course they are....As stated a crazy guy is better than an Idiot anyday....Not exactly sure what this means for Ben maybe they are trying to force his hand....I still Like Hue better ,but Haley knows his O and can call good timely plays.....

I really think Ben could be leaving, not trying to HI Jack the thread ,but to be showing interest in a high strung OC when you currently have a High Strung QB coming off free range doesn't bode well for Ben IMO...

OR, once Tomlin confirms he is nuts he won't go near him, because a psycho is not better then an idiot IMO. Anyway, the "idiot" is gone so lets focus on getting the best candidate for the job.

Ben needs a coach, not a best friend. I'd be happy with Haley or Hue Jackson.

And to me that man is Hue,he may be to old or to Timid for the direction the Steelers are going.....If Ben is willing to comply then Hue is the guy,,,,,,if not a strong hand who clearly belies in a system would be the best fit.....IMO Haley went off because the Team wouldn't help force his system....So to even leak info about the talks adds some meat in my mind about my Trade possibilities...

When I read that the Steelers and Haley have agreed to a contract, then I'll be happy!

But this does get me a little bit excited. As you know Tomlin_Era, I've been calling for this since we fired (or retired) BA!

Personally, I don't think their relationship will matter one way or another. Ben's closeness to Arians isn't the reason Arians wasn't any good. It's because Arians agreed with Ben. He didn't "let Ben do it Ben's way." That way was for both of them. They were on the same page.

Now, the shouting matches on the sideline would be a bad thing. But there's no guarantee that will happen.

I don't know where the notion that Ben will leave if he gets a non-best friend for an OC. I know he wasn't too fond of Whiz, at least in comparison to Arians, but what happened with Whiz? The two of them went undefeated his rookie season before losing to the spygating Pats, and then won the Super Bowl the following year. And to those that say the Whiz was all running and would never be able to properly use our new WR talent, how did the offense play on the run-up to that Super Bowl? By throwing the ball like mad men. And that was with ARE and Cedric Wilson as #2 and #3, not Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders. And remember our last TD drive against the Colts? 5-7 plays 50-some yards, ALL RUNS. Pounding the rock with Bettis. Whiz was also Haley's HC for that thriving passing offense in Arizona. The key is skill and balance, not friendship or fighting.

By the way, one of the comments after the article is that Haley is "too volatile". Many have said it on this board as well. But....

...Just once I want to see our OC GO BALLISTIC AFTER A RED ZONE MELTDOWN!!!! The conversation that Ben and BA seemed to be having after far too many red zone failures is who was making reservations for dinner that evening. I think Ben could seriously use somebody like Haley. We've all heard the old adage that steel sharpens steel, that would be the kind of relationship Haley has with Ben and I believe it COULD allow Ben to make the next step in his career progression and finally be known as one of the truly elite QBs in the league. BA held him back. Haley will compel him to excel!

Trying not to Hi Jack the thread ...So in response look at my other thread and is why I think those things....I think the who we hire and their style goes a long way towards possible trades or deals.....

Their is similar stuff around the web about what could go down...I think anyone other than Fitch increases the possibilty of a trade or at least sets the tone for a attitude adjustment at the least...

I'm crossing my fingers on getting Haley. He didn't get to where he is at by being a psycho. I'm sure all the NFL teams that have hired him in the past did their homework. I believe he was fired too soon. The Cheifs had a great year last year and then lost their TE, star RB, star safety and QB. Thats a lot for one team to take. We all have seem what injuries can do to a good football team.

He is a great play caller (weird that he was not calling the plays in KC) and he knows how to balance the run and passing game when a team has a great core of WR's and good QB. I also like his sternness. I remember when he benched Boldin, lets these guys know that they are not bigger than the team.

I'll be shocked if Rooney brings in a guy who accused the last owners he worked for of spying on him and tapping his phones.

Haley didn't realize the damage he made to many potential job interviews he was going to get by doing it.

A shame, 'cause with him our O will be on fire!
When he coached AZ, he got the most out of each and every of his playmakers.

The Steelers will due the homework, but i'd be surprised if that is the reason he doesn't get the job. Remember his father has a relationship with the Rooney's and was in Pittsburgh for awhile in the 70's, so they probably already know him personally and know more about him than most organizations.

Spoken like a true jedi-master. lol. When Ben was asked about Haley coming aboard to "tweak his game Ben replied, "I am not afraid" and Haley said "you will be ,you will be." The question is,Is Ben too old to begin the training? :-D

I was under the impression that after that story broke several other people confirmed that the Chiefs were doing what Haley said they were including tapping his work phone. It is not that big a stretch, the company I work for is so paranoid that some competitor might steal how they set up their supply chain and so on that they freak out if you take your cell phone out to snap a picture of co workers or something on a craft table in the break room.

I doubt it, those are serious illegal activities. Also, I haven't read a single story backing up those claims and Haley himself hasn't provided any proof. If you make those claims, better back it up or shut up.

I could have swore the story I read said some other members or former members of the Chiefs said he wasn't paranoid and that some of the stuff was true. I just did some checking and while some of the stuff was bizarre it didnt see anyone backing him on the phone tapping thing.
