MT plays to not lose a game. That can get you 9-8 or what not against crappy teams and sprinkle in a little luck here and there against the better ones but Come playoff time that mentality gets you beat by 25.

He’s doing the best he can

Some times you just have to accept that

You people know almost to a post the exact same things being said about Tomlin, were said about Cowher, right before we got Ben, and won the SB. It's freaking uncanny, and Yet I would bet a majority of the people that said that about Cowher......now either don't remember saying it, or history since has colored their memories so much they refuse to believe that they did. I know the old board was filled with......Cowher is a good coach, but the game has passed him by, and He will never win the big game...., and my favorite....I guarantee it.
I'm just glad they didn't bet their lives on their guarantees. LoL

The difference between Cowher and Tomlin is that Cowher's criticism was that he was unable to win the AFC title game outside of 1995

Tomlin's criticism has been that since a long time ago(since 2017) he is unable to win a single playoff game.

Big difference between being a top 4 team and being the 14th best team...

If that is the case we need to get a HC that is a high end coordinator on either side of the ball. If you won't pay top dollar to coordinators, pay the HC to do the HC things and run one side of the ball (well). Then for the other one, pick a young innovative guy that hasn't gotten a shot yet.

No really...The mid 2000s AFC when the steelers, pats, colts and even the chargers were loaded like crazy....In 2005,the steelers had a very strong 11-5 record but they were only the 6th seed. The 1997 Broncos were a true powerhouse and the pats were a dynasty of course in the 2000s

The middle of the 2010s(like 2013 to 2017),the afc was very weak outside of the Broncos and Patriots and 2 of those playoffs win of the steelers after 2010 was against backup QB

I didn’t call for Cowhers head but I would become frustrated with his failures in the championship games and felt he was being out coached.

Evaluating his tenure years later removed from emotion, I believe that was an incorrect take. I think he did an exceptional job without having a franchise QB for almost all of his career here. The fact that he immediately won a SB once he got one to me shows he is the superior coach. He got to the big game twice and really should have been to 3 SB’s if not for the choke against the Chargers.

It’s unfortunate he hung it up when he did, who knows how many more we could have won with Ben.

LoL. LoL. There is No difference. You don't get special privileges for winning a game , or two in the playoffs. Get that through your head. You can win 2 playoff game every year from not to 2056, and if You don't go to the SB, nobody cares. LoL.

Well You are one of the few. If You remember the old board, many, many , many people were calling for his head.
What I'm trying to get at is......lots of people think they know what's going on, but they don't. For all the people that guarantee Tomlin will never get to another SB, there were just as many that said the same about Cowher, but now that he won one , they act like they never said it, or they have forgotten.

I’m sure fans were calling for Knolls head, too. It’s what fans do.

That's just dumb a couple of playoff wins same against backup QBs who cares, a backup QB beat Brady and the Patriots in the Super Bowl. And the Giants beat the Bills in the Super Bowl with a backup QB.

I never wanted him canned, either. The championship game misses were frustrating - especially since the "Martyball" Cowher like to play kept you on the edge of your seat all the way up to the end o_O - but I never thought he couldn't get them back to the Bowl.

The main frustration for me during his tenure was the QB situation after O'Donnell 14 left. He had the team dialed enough that he could've competed for more SB appearances if he had stayed. (The Jets, being the Jets, were dumb to think they could center their offense around him.) Stewart was dynamic, but inconsistent, and ahead of his time in that Cowher wasn't looking to transform the offense to fit his profile. And none of the other temporary fill-ins were any good, either.

Definitely would've liked to have seen what he'd have done if he'd stayed

What are the special privileges you have when you make the playoffs but only to get blown out in the first playoffs game?

Every team want to face the steelers right now come playoffs time and this is a problem

Upset win can happen and you just named the only 2 teams who won the super bowl with a backup QB,even if both of those starter was not a scrub(Foles had a good career when he was in Philly)...But when you have 3 playoffs win since 2011 and 2 of those was against backup QB,this is not impressive

I agree with this. It's really a culmination of input from owners, to coaches to scouts etcetera.. But never fans unfortunately lol.. I do see a day though when fans will have an opportunity to have more of an active role.

Maybe the franchise QB Ben should've played better in the playoffs and they would've had more wins .
