According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Steelers have asked Cortez Allen to take a pay cut...

He should, robbed them blind :lolol:

Hope he does and finds his game again. Maybe the lack of pressure of living up to a big contract will help him.

His street value is probably pretty close to the vet minimum, so a cut to around $1 million for 2016 would be fair. Leave the rest of the contact intact - for now. If he plays well enough to be a solid starter, he earns the final 2 years at the original value.

I say resort to the vibrating bed technique... he has to put a quarter in Butlers pocket every time he wants to see the field

I would ask him to take a pay cut to zero dollars if I had the chance. Still more than he's worth but you have to be willing to compromise ya know?

What happens if he says no? I assume he'll be cut. Then what? What does that do for the cap?

I'm assuming because if he regains the form that earned that contract, it would be very good for us. And, they can still turn around and cut him if he stinks it up in camp. Although that would be harsh after agreeing to take a pay cut :lolol:

Well what I am thinking is we are getting youth back there, both Cocrell and Golson are young and we still don't know what we are getting with Grant. I am hoping we hit 1 - 2 CB in the draft and one could end up with a #1 there......just move one. jmo

Oh and Blast one more thing and I hope you get a kick out of this. Now that we brought Green here my pipe dream/man crush on Higbee is over , however I have a new "man crush"..... Harlan Miller let's get him here!!!!!!! I will save the rest for a different thread, lol! :clapping:

Ha! Yep, let's save Harlan Miller for another thread... I'm not in agreement with that one either

On topic, I still think back to what we saw in Allen in 2013, and I think it's good to allow him the opportunity to press the reset button, just not at his current salary. If he rejects the request, he's an idiot because he may end up never being on an NFL roster again. The problem is that his agent probably gets zero if he gets his pay cut, but gets a slice if he negotiates a vet min deal to go to another team's camp, so is he going to get the right advice from his agent?

Yes sir once the FA stuff dies down we can get back to draft talk.......I am start to think you are messing with me when it comes to prospects, lol :roflmao:

Now a couple things here you say it's good to hit the reset button, however if we do that and he SUCKS again we are right back where we started. I feel with the signings the Steelers have done, a lot of 3 yr deals they are putting themselves in a win now mode and "imo" Allen don't fit in our plans. On the other hand you say if he don't take the pay cut he may not ever be on another roster, meaning he SUCKS and every team knows it. Time to cut bait and move on, draft a kid that has #1 potential. jmo
