I really enjoyed that minute where I thought the FO finally recognized the need to rebuild.

Why not? he'll either be good or ass, and we'll be more ass than we are now so our asses will get a better pick.

Use him like they did Haden probably. If he can be cut after this year with no dead money or cap hit I don’t mind this.

It’s like a half season try out for next year. They will make him restructure if he’s on the team next year.

I remember comments during the draft that Artie Burns was better when the Steelers drafted him on the very next pick back in 2016.

Even more aggravating is the fact that Washington would have cut Jackson tomorrow.
My guess is that someone was turning stones and the Steelers figured they better jump.

His Cap hit for next year is $15.7 (Dead Cap would have been $9 mil)
He would be here till through 2024 if they do not extend him.
I don't know what Washington is agreeing to pay of his salary this season if anything.

Swap of late rounders? Seems worth it to kick the tires.

Think the Steelers thought had he just been released they would have no hope in signing him.

If you a quality player at this point of the season and your out right released your going to a contender on a short term deal.

Steelers get a guy signed for 2.5 more seasons at this rate. I don't hate it more times than not 6th and 7th rounders don't pan out and please save me your Tom Brady, AB and Brett Kiesel comments please.

I think you have me confused with someone else.
    My thoughts
I am not a fan of late round guys, but come on, they do exist. lol... but the hit ratio there is a long shot.
Jackson, depending on his back injury (I think he cleared the doc's) could be some help.
They could use him in Man coverage and some zones.
We will definitely get a look.

Kind of sounds like the opposite of Witherspoon who is repeatedly torched in man coverage.

Wasted money and time. The question, that should be asked is, does he make us better?!

So somebody broke down the contract. It’s basically 3m and swap of late rounds to see if he fits in our system for next year.

He could’ve gone to waivers and somebody else scooped him up.

This is the corner they wanted and Bengals stole and we panicked picked Artie Burns.

I don’t hate it and worth a look.

That's my thought. A late round trade. I don't care. And witherspoon was benched. Sounds good to me.

I had issues with him when he came there.
I didn't like the move at first, but maybe it can work.

Exactly. It's not bad at all. Let's see how he does. I think some forgot witherspoon was just benched.

Also can't believe i found something to agree with you on. See what happens when you aren't negative or pushing the feeling that you want bad things to happen just so your right?

@jeh1856 you think sdot is showing a new look?

I don’t want bad things to happen so I’m right… I just give my expert opinion whether it’s good or bad and I’m right majority of the time. We got a high 2nd for Claypool like I said and that’s just today.

As long as it’s like a swap of a 6th or 7th. It’s worth 3 million to bring in a guy we thought would fit our system pre draft. Try him out the rest of the year and find out. Get started on fixing this and thinking towards next year.

Looks like Steelers and Commanders formerly The Football Team formerly the Red pigments.

Are swaping 6th rounder for Jackson and 7th rounder... in the year 2025 draft.

We’ve traded for /picked up recycled CB’s before, Steven Nelson worked, Sensebaugh and Gilbert did not, so I guess we’re batting 300

I have a feeling this one will be like the Gilbert signing

Tomlin gets his man 6 years later.

Funny was just thinking if we would trade for him after reading an article about him not working out in Washington.

Guess it’s worth kicking the tires on.

This is his contract, no guarantees, $3m this year and $12.7m next year that can be easily cut if he doesn’t work out or restructured if he does.

Jackson has had an up and down career but we know he can play, there is no risk whatsoever here. May as well kick the tyres
