I also read that Colbert says Tim is isn't going anywhere. So there's that.

And you're right we are going to be just fine.

We're getting a $4 million relief from Heath Miller's retirement also. Don't worry Mac the sky isn't falling.

I wanted to post something about Stephen Jackson's cap demands before anyone else did.

    Did I win?

Never heard of a player making a cap Demand. Is that something new?

For Stephen Jackson, anything is possible.

But in the meantime, a player's contract can be demanding on the cap space... which was maybe what I meant.:smiley1:

How do we have a $3MM rollover with all the money we spent on kickers?

I have been hearing they will give Ben bonus money upfront to lower his cap hit, also once they sign Timmons and DeCastro to new contracts more $$$$ available. They could also designate Cortez as a June 1st cut that could be another 3 million to work with.

Yeah, they call that restructuring. :) They could free up over 12.5 Mil with Ben's contract, not that they'd do anywhere near that much of course.

while i do think we will be alright going forward, i am just saying this is not all extra money we have to work with. we will still keep a chunk of this money for injuries during the year, dead money from heath and cortez and whomever else we cut. don't forget we have to replace those players too. we also have players we don't bring back to replace. possibly boykin, blake, shamarko, spence, garvin, beachum, foster, gradkowski, DHB, will allen, cam thomas. then there are guys that we may want to sign in golden, gay, lock up our kicker, AV will most likely get a raise, and fill some other holes. we need some players too, not just bodies to replace some people. all this will cost money.

The cap is going up around 10 million from what I've read. With the rollover from last year and the 4 million from Heath's retirement there's 17 million right there. Restructure a couple guys and maybe cut a couple others and we could easily have 25 million to work with.
I'm not worried about the cap at all. JMO

they explain that the rollover money and the cap increase is gone in the highlighted response i had above. we will keep nearly the same amount that we rolled over for injuries during the season. we will free up some money just not a lot of it. we have a lot of holes to fill and we will be carrying dead money for the next couple of years. less than we have in the past though. with heaths money, since he retired, we are on the hook for his guaranteed money in one year and we can't spread it over two like we possibly can with guys cut after june 1. we just gain heaths salary back, but have to fill his void.

The local media was speculating they could do the same with Pouncey and Heyward.
