Oh hell no. I'm an amateur/weekend warrior musician. I'm an IT geek/nerd by day.

Bass/music/recording is one of my 3 expensive hobbies... along with Skiing and Road Cycling/Mountain+Gravel biking. I used to play golf... but I quit. Thank the godz for that.

My parents signed me up for classical piano lessons in '82 at 9 years of age. I got pretty good at piano (4 years), was a good experience and learned how to read music.... but eventually burned out and wanted to get into bass guitar. My parents were against it. I wanted a bass guitar for Xmas of '85... and they got me a Casio keyboard. I was pissed. I had to save up half throughout the next year for the total cost ($200) of a Westone bass and Gorilla bass amp.... which was $400. That was a lot of money back then... but I managed to pay half with my own money and finally got my first bass Xmas of '86... freshmen year in high school.

To this day... my dad is impressed that I stuck with bass guitar. He thought it was just a phase.

My folks still hate it. I couldn't impress them if I received a gold album, a Grammy, and a Rock in roll HOF. I'm serious. My Grandparents on the other hand (God rest their souls) were behind me.
I'm a serious disappointment to my Mother.
