Agree 100% with the second article. There was no guarantee that we would get a 3rd round comp pick for Pickens, and importantly trying to parlay Pickens’ departure into a 3rd round comp pick would tie our hands in free agency.

All would have, could have, and maybe, and no proof. Lots of people during that time thought Roethlisberger was a reach coming out of Miami of Ohio. Do You not remember the actual draft???

Plus a pick in 26 is better than a pick in 27

Yeah. So You actually didn't watch that draft, because that wasn't the only thing said. Example: I can show more saying that Sanders would go in the 1st round, by the way , what round did he go????

Again, the odds would been slim to none that he would not been drafted by the Bills...The best chance to have Roethlisberger was to finish at 6-10

If the Steelers had won two more meaningless games in 2003,99% sure there's no Roethlisberger for the Steelers, no HOF or SB for Cowher, no Super Bowl for Bettis, and not the success the Steelers had from 2004 to 2010.

    You are making things up.
What were Sanders odds of get drafted after the 3rd round this year before the draft. If You don't get my point , I'm wasting my time.

slim but it was a unique situation because of his father....The odds are very often a good indication....I mean, since 2018 every teams which won the super bowl were in the top 5 in super bowl odds before the season

So then let's go by the odds....if You have a running Qb...the odds are You won't win the SB....odds since the beginning of the SB. See how dumb that is. You are picking, and choosing odds. Odds say Sanders was a 1round pick, but reality....he wasn't even close. Everyone just knew that the next team would take him, but it didn't happen. They guessed, and was wrong....just like You are guessing that Buffalo would take Ben on the next pick. You are guessing.

Jalen Hurts just won the super bowl and it was just a matter of time a running QB was going to win the super bowl...According to the odds, the eagles had a top 5 super bowl odds to win the SB before the 2024 season

See moving the goal post again to fit Your narrative. Can you carry on a conversation without doing that, or letting your feelings interfere???
I ask what the odds were of a Running Qb winning the SB if You laid it against the odd since the beginning of the Sbs. I guarantee the odds would not be great. I'm trying to show you odds don't always mean anything. If odds meant everything, I would never make money gambling.

No ****....You already forgot, You talked about odds, and I'm trying to show You odds don't mean anything, by showing you odds of something You enjoy....Running Qbs. Forget it. This is like trying to teach a rock music theory. I give up

The difference, we all knew it was just a matter of time before a running QB would win a super bowl....Much higher than the steelers would have been able to get Roethlisberger in 2004 if they would have finished at 8-8 and this is not close...Not hard to understand, especially the super bowl odds last season had the ravens and the eagles in the top 5, so 2 teams with a running QB....

You don't get to set the market value, no matter what you think he was worth. Again, that you think he was worth more than what they got is strange to me. Likewise, you can't dictate what the 2027 comp would be, nor are you considering that in order to receive it, the Steelers would once again be tying their hands in free agency - which personally I wasn't fully on board with them doing this year.

Similarly, you don't get to cite your own theory as proof your own theory is correct. There is zero evidence of any "panic". And there actually IS a side to considering the third rounder in '26 is more valuable. You don't have to agree with it, but there's a line of reasoning there.

The way I see it, Roman Wilson is effectively the receiver from the draft, given he didn't play last year.

Though I suspect they'll still pick someone else up.

They did draft a receiver with their second round draft pick

How is this so hard to understand for some people

And taking two with the needs on defense would have been very foolish

They need another guy since they were looking to trade Pickens, now they're back in the position they were in last year with one legit WR.
