OK. Now that I have been educated on what a "selfie stick" is, I can add my two cents to the never ending self absorbed naccissistic society that we have leveled upon this country. It begins with Hollywood, goes all the way thru the White House and all the way down to a lack of respect in our society.

The world is now 24/7/365 and what happened 30 seconds ago is now old news. People are so innundated with having every little moment of time right at their fingertips that they can't look up and see what beauty actually lies in front of them. I get it, the world is changing with technology but people are so blinded by their moment of being me and who should be impressed by their 15 seconds of fame that they aren't even aware of what damage that they possibly do to their own future.

Facebook, Twitter, Americal Idol, The Voice, The View, Late Night TV, Nightly News, ect....... Everyone wants to be in that look at me moment no matter what the cost.

Getting a tattoo? Getting a new car? Buying a pair of shoes? At a concert? Breaking up with a significant other? It doesn't matter. It has to be some one else's business. I have a neighbor half my age that I speak to maybe twice a year yet I can tell you when he is not happy with a relationship. He'll post it on facebook but why do I care?

I agree with what someone else posted earlier. Back in the day, if you were taking pictures of yourself, you were considered a dork.

I see no threat with what the idiot did. I don't agree with him being removed from the stadium for merely saying has going to run onto the field. If he does it then by all means arresst him. If he threatened anyone one or anything, then yes. Remove him immediately. Maybe I don't have the full story though.

The other day, they were working on the power lines in my area and the power needed to be out 2 hours. You'd swear my daughter wasn't going to be able to survive. I explained that every so many decades they need to replace old telephone poles with new ones and she said but why does it have to be today? She couldn't connect to the internet when she wanted to.

God help us if this country ever gets cyber attacked on the grid. People wouldn't even know how to light a candle without having an App for that.

Good post and that last part, is going to happen and it will be an absolute disaster. I read book on it and it will have a devastating domino effect. Scary stuff.

Yeah there have been a LOT of people report on how vulnerable the grids are. It's amazing to me how much society has just changed since I graduated almost 15yrs ago. The internet is a perfect vehicle for people to make complete spectacles of themselves over the most minute of things. I really despise Facebook and Instagram and all these other vehicles of narcissism that are plaguing this country. HOWEVER, just think of how much fun we all have and how we'd never have met each other if NOT for the internet. So it certainly has its value as well. It just needs to be kept in perspective is all.

You know the earlier comments about monitoring social media and maybe reading this site aren't so far fetched. My wife sells for 31 gifts and used to post stuff on Facebook and I had to defuse a situation that arose from one of her postings and my younger sister and brother commenting on the post and making jokes that were somewhat dirty but still not too bad. However 31 has an image and an image that they watch very carefully and she could have lost her business had the guy they pay to just watch facebook for 31 mentions had taken the posting the wrong way. The company I work for in MN has built a reputation on customer service and positive customer feedback. They employ four full time people to just watch social media to make sure the company's reputation isn't tarnished by even their own employees. So when you think about the money tied up in the Steelers brand it is foolish not to believe that in this day and age with technology where it is at, that the Steelers aren't watching maybe not to censor but to keep tabs on people potentially harming the brand.

TTF says he knows for a fact that they have visited this site. Makes sense if they want to get a pulse on the fan base. I'm sure they monitored plenty of message boards.

Dear Mr. Front Office Spy if you are reading this PLEASE stop drafting players in the 3rd round that are not gonna serve an immediate and consistent purpose. We have an aging defense and an offensive line that is still a work in progress and there's no need to draft a qb in the 3rd round. We also have a franchise runningback so there is really no need to draft another runningback in the 3rd round. Please address the OBVIOUS areas of need on this team and quit reaching for project players that will be off the team and even out of the LEAGUE in like 2 or 3 years. We could have maybe had a better o lineman or corner or safety but you clowns insist on drafting 2 undersized runningbacks and a qb??? Come on now. I'm sure this post will be STRONGLY considered in the draft room in a few months. You're welcome Steeler Nation. You're welcome.

When the old board went under I always wondered if it wasn't because they didn't like the fact that people would go on there and be so highly critical of the team.

I think that was a two fold problem the first being they were using a less than top flight company to design build and run the team website and the second someone thought with the way Facebook and Twitter were going message boards were dying out. If you look at how much the offical site as improved in the last four years you can tell someone took notice of what tech can do for you.

Well a lot of people have told me how they were banned for some of the most trivial reasons imaginable over there. I always had to be a lurker there and could never post because it wouldn't let me register. They were discriminating against short people. LOL.

I think they set their profanity filters way to high and left the site on auto. It wasn't very intuitive you couldn't mention Donnie Shell because it saw the S "hell" as bad, it would flag you trying to type out Dick Lebeau and yet it would allow flame wars between members with name calling and so on without ever having anything happen so you knew it had to be basically unmonitored.

Read this a few days ago and thought it was hilarious. I certainly would not get bent out of shape about it.

I just received my selfie stick today haha.. What a coincidence you were referring to the sticks. It's actualy not for me because like many here I hate selfies and think they are narcissistic

The sticks would be good though for more then selfies. It gives you the ability to take group pictures with a bit of distance without using a timer and proping up phone. Its a good instrument for videos as well of larger groups as you are moving about.

I think I'm going to buy a selfie stick to take to games and get great angles of all the people taking selfies. When I get bored with that I'll snap some photo's of all the people who pay good money to seat in their seats and text while a 40 yard TD is being completed.
