I could fool myself into being lukewarm about signing Rodgers just like I was with Wilson with the one exception, Rodgers is going to want actual money whereas Wilson was free. No thanks!

It doesn’t matter who the QB is as long as MT is in control of everything. He ties all of his coordinators hands so as not to outshine him. It is the ultimate feeling of job security and he isn’t letting go. I feel bad for several of our very talented players stuck on this hamster wheel going nowhere. It must be a Pittsburgh thing. Pens, pirates and Pitt Panthers are all the same. Do just enough to field a team but nothing excessive to become a Champion. Pittsburgh, the City of Champions at one time has now become acceptable mediocrity. I doubt I will ever see another trophy being hoisted until new ownership takes over for every sport located on the other side of the Ft. Pitt tunnels.

Blast Furnace is right, Rogers' destination is nothing but offseason content for the media.

Rogers makes no sense for the Steelers. We don't have the coaching, scheme, or talent on offense, and he can't carry a team on his back anymore. He is not better than Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Herbert, Burrow, or Stroud, so it makes no sense to take any kind of cap hit for the 8th or 9th best QB in the conference. We can just sign Fields for cheaper and likely get the same production.

It is time for the youth movement because this team is not a contender.

The Steelers need to rebuild the trenches, wait for some coaching contracts to expire, while hunting for their next franchise QB in one of the next couple of drafts.

If we want a mediocre quarterback we may as well go with Fields

Rodgers is 5 years older than Wilson and less mobile . I don't want either one of them both of them are washed.

If they sign a WR in free agency, then they don't need to draft one in the first round.

Rodgers made Beanie Bishop look like an All-Pro when the Steelers beat the Jets last season :hehehe:.

Rodgers, behind our OL, would be target practice for opposing defenses

This is true , but I like at least 3 WR'S better than any FA we can get IMO.. Plus I see a good bit of drop off in DL after 4 and another drop off at CB after 3 .. IMO all those guys will be gone before we pick.So I speculate that we can get a real difference maker at WR unless we intend to move up...

It is a copy cat league so Teams will hammer those 2 positions hard early IMO .. So its time to zag while everyone else zigs .. I love the 3 position groups I mentioned and we need help in all 3 of them .. Plus we know we can't out Coach the good Teams so we might as well get speed and play makers...
https://www.pff.com/draft/big-board?season=2025 One if not both 3rd. and 4th. ranked will be there..I love them both..
https://www.pff.com/draft/big-board?season=2025 All but the #1 may be there in round #2..My fav is the kid from UNC..

I am not firmly set on TE after that only if 1 of the top 2 fall ..Actually I would have no problem going WR again ...

Who is posting these odds? If you post Aaron Rodgers or Steelers, you will increase your 'click count'. Imagine the ARod to the Steelers increase.

Used to be where there's smoke, there's fire. Now it's more like, where there's smoke, there's nothing else to write about so make something up.

As some have stated both our QBS may leave .. What if the rumors that Russ and the OC not get along ? What if they did pull his ability to change plays? If it is true he very well could want out..

How about Fields he was winning and got benched .. We hit a slump and they never really tried to use him.. The few plays they did it worked..How does he feel about that ? So it is highly possible both of them want out...Plus both know really no chance of great Team success because of Coaching so why not go for the Money ? IMO they are both gone so the Team will need someone...

I wished they would keep Fields ,but I fear he wants more now than they are willing to pay..

Sign Fields to a three year deal. Continue to build your lines through the draft. Get your skill players in free agency or through trades. Let Fields develop into his potential or let him guide us to a couple of top ten picks in the draft. If he bombs, it gives us the best chance to get our franchise QB. If he reaches his potential, even better.

This seems like the most logical approach. If Will Howard is available in the 2nd round there is no way the Steelers should pass on him but I think he will be off the board at that point and we will keep waiting for a new QB.

Rogers will not help this team.
If they want the big name, go for Darnold or Cousins.
    Neither is a great option:
Cousins - I'd do it, but that contract is way too much.
Darnold - He's going to be feast or famine. I think here, we don't have the kind of staff he had in Minny nor the WR talent.
    So that is easily squashed.

I have no idea how the Steelers solve this.

He's better than wilson. But his WR he hates is here. But he's severally on the decline

Fact remains, if you put out a headline with Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers, there doesn't have to be any truth involved. It will get clicks like crazy. Until I see someone like Schefter write something about it, it's BS.

Putting up numbers in garbage time is not the same as doing it when games are competitive and the team is pushing for a playoff berth.

Also, Rodgers had better receivers to throw to, especially after the Jets traded for Adams, and he still couldn't do much when it mattered. Neither guy had good pass protection, but Wilson was also hampered by a terrible receiving corps.

Wilson is a weird dude, Rodgers is far worse. A buddy of mine is a two-time cancer survivor. He wrote in a group text about how much he hates the idea of the Steelers bringing in Rodgers. "It would be a mistake of massive proportions. Locker room cancer and I don't use that term lightly."

The best part of getting Rodgers is the likelihood that Adams would come along with him, but how much cap room would you want to tie up in that duo?

if you sign rodgers, cousins or stafford you have a lot better chance than with fields. you better then be willing to go get a top LT in free agency and possibly a guard. you better be willing to get a good vet WR in free agency. you better then be willing to draft a top RB and WR to give them enough weapons. if not and you take this just sign fields to two or three years and wait to draft a franchise qb down the road, you might as well just trade TJ, cut cam, trade queen, trade highsmith, and pack it in for the next 4-5 years until that said franchise qb materializes. good luck with that.

why waste those players careers for mediocrity? they may not even want to stay if you do that. i could easily see tj walking into free agency.

They made the playoffs the last two years with below average talent, laughingstocks are teams like the Giants, Titans, and Raiders.

We are never going to get a top draft pick unless we trade for it. That long streak of no losing seasons is going to doom us. They will play to make sure they continue that record at the expense of any chance to win a championship. IMO.
