That is Rookie Pro Bowler Shedeur Sanders to you. :)

Like I said in another post, Mel Kiper had to be doing a little dance when it was announced Shedeur Sanders made the Pro Bowl.

Perfect. You summed up what Kiper has done for the Draft and the NFL perfectly. The NFL Draft is no longer held in a basement at the Holiday Inn anymore because of Mel Kiper.

Everyone that tried to tell the world that Sanders was the greatest thing since sliced bread are trying to use his Pro Bowl selection as validation.

Of course, we all know it is not and Sanders getting the nod over many other quarterbacks that were sooooooo much better than him is an embarrassment to the sport and to the NFL in my opinion.

I believe because many of the ones in front of him didn't want it. It means nothing anymore, especially to vets

Because Rodgers threw for about 168 yards, no tds, and our only points were from our kicker.
Another game our D kept us in, 16 points, and our Offense did nothing, absolutely nothing.

I remember it used to be Kiper and the Drugstore List if you could find it.

Honestly, if you make $$$ off the NFL draft in any way shape or form...you should cut Kiper a royalty check.

Honestly, I got a little sad last time I watched TV draft coverage and it was clear that McShay had passed Kiper as the lead analyst for the early rounds. Like you said, dude basically invented and entire industry.

Not as big of a fool as S Sanders. Kiper is paid to buy into the hype.

No way to know for sure but would not surprise me one bit if Kiper has some under the table deals with player agents to hype their players.

Since it's the season, I was looking up some old draft war room stories that changed franchises. One that popped up was the 1972 draft. Some of yinz probably know the story. For those that might not; In 1972 the Steelers needed a RB. But Noll wanted DB Willie Buchanon as the 13th pick. Unfortunately (fortunately?) GB took him at pick #7. Noll then switched the pick to Robert Newhouse. But the Steelers scouting staff was pounding the table for some guy named Franco Harris. Art Rooney stepped in and ended up siding with the scouting staff and the rest is history.
Buchanon had a decent NFL career. And Dallas took Newhouse in the 2nd round who then ended up the third or fourth best RB of that draft. But HOF'r Harris was the cream of the '72 class and it's all because Art Rooney made the right call. Now was Art the smartest one in the room, or did he simply listen to the guys he employed to do their jobs?

The story from the 2004 draft is Cowher wanted to draft an OL Shawn Andrews, but Dan stepped in and suggested they take Ben instead.

He can have all of the deals he wants with agents but it is still useless

Agents have no idea what the team plans are

And teams are certainly not telling anyone

At this point Kiper knows no more than anyone searching the internet

And his accuracy on who is drafting who is abysmal

Here's a real draft strategy question; for a first round pick only, should you take a player with a higher floor, but lower ceiling, or one with a lower floor but higher ceiling? Seems the Steelers have swung both ways.
e.g. Jones was a classic lower floor higher ceiling pick. Harris was a higher floor lower ceiling pick.
