We will never get the CB of a draft because we will never pick that low while Ben is still on the team.

At a measly 5'9", how is this guy suppose to cover the Mike Evans, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, or any WR with size?? Since our CBs are extremely worthless, we desparately need a shutdown CB & we ignore all on the board for this?? Steelers didn't want a Marcus Peters or Keven Johnson or Jalen Collins or Eric Rowe or Josh Shaw or any shutdown CB with size?? Frustrating...

Yeah I'm stoked with the Golson pick! Maybe could have been had in the 3rd but why chance it. He's a baller and we liked him so take the dude.

I like the pick and thought it was funny that in his highlight video it shows him take the ball away from our third round pick for an INT.

Certainly, few teams have that many, quality tall wide receivers. Some of the best are short like Brown. Plus we need another CB in this draft, so maybe a tall one is out there.

This is what I was thinking....why did we draft him so soon? And I'm starting to second guess coach Lakes scouting and evaluation of talent

Welcome to Steel city Golson and by the way your height ...no problem! I've seen your work and you will only do better in Pittsburgh.

Yes the kid is small. But he plays big. Had 16 picks. More then Taylor had his whole career here. They need a ball hawk. Yes his size is a concern but he has a nose for the ball and has earned respect for it. I'm more concerned about the 3rd round pick. Seems the brass has a brain fart when the 3rd round comes a callin.

People realize that this kid is NOT going to come in and intercept 10 passes in a season vs NFL QBs, right? It's unlikely that he'll have 10 interceptions by the time his rookie contract is up.

Last season was an anomaly for Golson. He had never intercepted more than 3 passes in a season before. In fact, he had a total of 13 INTs and passes defensed combined in his first 3 years at Ole Miss.

I wasn't looking for a 6'4 cb( would be sick tho) ..a 6ft one is what I like so they can jump with the 6'4 receivers, if they got this guy to cover the Wes walkers of the league then I can understand the pick. . I don't see this guy jumping with the 6'4 receivers

You know what they call 6'4 receivers who can't catch, but can cover and knock balls away , CB';)

Jim you find that guy I say you play the lottery because it will be your lucky day. It like finding the holy grail most times you get a guy with size but no skills, guys with skills but average height, guys with speed but little else. If this guy is a ball hawk and has solid cover skills I say it's a win. Only time height is going to be a factor is on jump balls and if the fix the pass rush it will limit the deep ball

No, length is a factor full time. From the ability to jam a WR at the line of scrimmage, to reaching around a WR to knock down slants and comeback routes, to swatting away out routes, to tackling.

Willie Williams played for 13 seasons and was 5'9". It's not like he is the smallest corner ever. He can defeat WRs with speed and quickness to get into better position to play the ball. With the amount of PI penalties being called, this may be an advantage.

The average corner back height in the NFL is 5-11, will Golsons 2 inch deficit matter that much? What he does have, is the ability to track the ball in flight and go after it and catch it in awkward positions, we had a 6-1 corner here for years that could never do that, can Golson transition to the NFL receivers, we might find out he can do it, and maybe the interceptions on defense will improve a lot....

all I can say to all u guys who worry about his height is watch the tape. he has one great pick against bama where he goes up over a 6"6 te. he shut down marquez north at Tennessee and he is 6'4.

the kid can play. I would rather have him than a guy who is 6'1 and will probably be moved to saftey

Go tell Seattle this, all of their CB's are 6ft + ( minus Burley 5 ft 10 )

    And that's great for them.

Physical size is only part of their success though.

2 or 3 inches make a "bigger" difference in the bedroom than on the football field... At least that's the rumor. Good ball hawking CB.. Love the pick, he plays like a little man acts at the bar after a few cocktails, MEAN..

He did a pretty good job shutting down Bama receivers sealing the deal.

Actually your analysis is false. Golson himself said he was learning the game before last year and it finally gelled and he started playing his instincts last year. Makes sense too when you look at his tape. He is the biggest ballhawk of the entire draft. much better at intercepting than any other CB in the draft.

research him and you will see i am correct

yes and he has big HOPS! He can out jump many most WRs out there. and at his size many many NFL qbs will probably test him his entire career. I smell game changer.
