I can understand Elliot but there is no way they get Johnson back.

 

This is ridiculous

 

Honest to god, why bring up Lynch? If it gets down to Lynch, our chances of winning the game drop to 0% anyway.

I'm pissed.

 

Losing Johnson will hurt but the worst news I saw in the article is that Anthony Chickillo is healthy and ready to play Sunday night.

 

Why bring up Lynch? b/c they have to. If Hodges gets hurt, then what other QB have they got? It's only Lynch....

 

Just goes to show you that Tomlin and Colbert have been here too long.

 

Yeah, I realize that. My point is that you might as well just go with the emergency QB for that game because either way, you're not winning the game.

So, they're going to give up a good young OLineman for essentially nothing.

I see your point now, but the Steeler fans would be livid, if Tomlin only relied on an emergency QB to go in. I wonder who is our emergency QB these days?

And I don't think anyone on the PS is worth not competing on the field, in order to save some OG or LB just bc we liked what we saw in them in preseason...

 

Don't fret - we can trade away our 2021 1st round pick to get him back.

 

I totally understand that but maybe cut a different player.

No one is going to pick up Johnny Holton, release him. Hope and pray they can get Fred J. back on to the roster next week.

 

Is Samuels the emergency QB? Also hurt! I see why they had to bring up Lynch but it’s a killer to let a promising guard like Johnson go.

 

I believe Switzer is the emergency QB.

 

Not to go off on a tangent but there is something to be said, design your offense to use max protect line protection more. Hell it's worked for that one guy.

 

Not to interject some reason into to perfectly logical irrational fear but you guys do realize you are advocating keeping a guy on the 53 man roster to protect him from getting work on another team when the Steelers are already down to like 43 players not on the walking wounded list. If Fred had a chance to start yeah sure keep him but right now the running back room is light, the qb room is light, the wr room is light, the team room and so on.

Personally Id be more concerned that they keep activating guys who weren't good enough to make the final 53 but seem to be good enough to be an emergency bandaid guy.

 

That’s what happens to any team in an injury crisis.

I don’t think anybody is being fearful or illogical. Of course certain moves were required to patch up the roster and there is presumably some logic behind Johnson’s release that we are not aware of. The reason people are annoyed is that he may have the potential to be a starter in the future and they are letting him go for short term reasons. It’s just bad luck really. Nobody is begrudging him a spot on another team.

 

At this point I'm more curious as to why going into week 6 with a bye on the horizon why they haven't IR'd Nix and gotten a temp FB. I don't think he has practiced in a month and is still holding his roster spot meanwhile they IR'd and cut Grimble before we even knew what his injury was. I want Nix playing both at FB and special teams but at almost 7 weeks he could have been on IR and they could use some help with the run game.

 

They may be better off to IR someone, if not who else are the going to cut to make room for a RB and a QB?
And before anyone starts don’t say McCullers.

 

We are already thin at quality WR’s with Washington out for a while. I know some people think the season is over, but they’re still trying to win.
