Someone posted a quote from Bettis in another thread saying pretty much the opposite about Cowher. Which was interesting to read.

What? That Cowher wasn't a disciplinarian? I saw it first hand at a game. Bill would take you aside right there in public while the game was going on. LOL
The BUS didn't need the tires change.

my take on Butler as well.

How does the 2nd call come in anyways? I know only one player can have the green dot on his helmet for the defense, so how is the 2nd play call coming in? I'm sure both the HC and DC can communicate to that player so don't they listen to each other? or is the 2nd call coming in too late to communicate it to the rest of the defense.

Whatever the case may be, it should have been changed after one game and the film was reviewed. Pinpointing the double calls should be easy when the players explain why they ran whatever defense(s) they were in. MT and KB should set a protocol for changing defense, stick to it or not make changes on the fly.

I’d need to find the quote. It was surprising to hear though. More about being late for meetings etc.

I forget the thread that had that artical stating that in 2006 Tomlin as DC for Minnesota the pass defense had been ranked 31st (or total defense I forget). Its not like he was this great find.

If there is one thing Tomlin does very well its being a good figurehead. He should be in politics.

Something something, Harrison falling asleep in a meeting had everything to do with what's wrong with the defense and defensive coaching. Something something

    Right?

I see blown coverages on every team at one time or another during games. Harrison is a bitter little baby that’s just trying to get some revenge. What’s the purpose of him going on these shows talking bad about the Steelers?

In some way what Harrison said didn't make sense unless the Steelers cheated, something went wrong with communication device, or more than one defensive player called the play.

In any event, all teams had communication problems at times. Teams solved the issue differently.

I have said this for years, Mike Tomlin is at best a position coach. Talent has won over

his whole coaching career. Look at our team the last 10 years, Something is just not there. Thanks coach T.

Was this topic not the direct and indirect focus of Tomlin taking over playcalling duties last year according to some reports last season? For that matter, did many of us already not conclude that, if Tomlin truly trusts Butler, he should let him and only him call the plays on defense?

As others and myself have stated already, everyone NEEDS to be on the same page; regardless of circumstances. Within that same vein though, Tomlin NEEDS to let his coordinators coordinate their specific aspects of the game and deal with the main points of emphasis of being a Head Coach (i.e. Time Management, Personnel Management in game, halftime analysis, etc.).

If anything, this could be of further indication as to why John Mitchell was promoted to Assist Head Coach. Seems as though the Art Rooney II wants Tomlin to delegate and oversee the general aspects of Head Coaching more than he indirectly let on. Mitchell will see to it that Tomlin stays the course and not interfere with the othet staff in game.

IDK, maybe one of the guys coming in had a different play than the one called into the helmet. Just a guess. It doesn't sound good, regardless.

Have also said this for years, Tomlin has won what he has because of talent not superior coaching. That is why we struggle in the playoffs because were up against teams with same amount of talent with better or good coaching.

It’s pretty clear that Harrison’s aim in the interview was to attack the coaches. He seems to take every question back to coaching.

Hell, Joe Haden spoke with more respect about the Cleveland staff than JH has about Tomlin and co.

I don’t think the news that there are communication issues are a surprise - the spike/ no spike debacle against the Patriots for example - but Harrison clearly has his agenda.

a substituting player coming in would make sense too. Maybe we should take up a fund to buy some big sheets of cardboard so we can paste pictures on it for all the defense to see. like they do in college...

just a tip...pics of burnt toast should not be included lol
