You can never have enough running backs. My guess is if he makes the team, then Batch will go to the PS. Long term - Mendy, Redmen, and Rainey. Until Mendy comes back maybe he'll dress in place of Dwyer

Because Barron Batch has failed to impress. In week 4 the best of these two will be kept and the other cut.

Baron Batch has looked fine...not sure what some people are talking about. After his first few runs in the first game...he looked decent. Obviously they are running him up the gut a lot...and the 2nd/3rd OLs arent that great. But he's played well enough. My guess is Ford will not be able to play this week so they needed another body to take some reps...as they wont be playing the starters much if at all this week...and I'm sure they wont have Rainey/etc in there much either...so they needed another healthy body to carry the ball this week...thats all there is too it.

 

thats too bad. i thought he had a bright future with this team.

 

I've watched each game and have yet to be impressed by Batch. He picks up the blitz very well but his vison stinks. If it comes down to keeping batch or Ford give me Ford.

I expect to see Mendy,Redman and maybe either Dwyer or Rainey getting zero carries thursday. Look for Batch and Ford and the new guy getting all the work.

Ahhhhhh the advantages to getting the NFL's preaseason package and being able to rewatch every game and pause and rewind... Baron Batch has been playing exceptional..just because he doesnt have a "SPLASH" play in preseason doesnt mean he hasnt done exactly what the coaches have asked of him....... He has the most carries and yards of all the backs so far...and has only been given straight ahead running plays... wait til he gets out on some swings and screen passes.....

As for picking up Dujuan..My thinking is he is just here to play the last preaseason game..give our guys a break to avoid overwork and injury and also give himself a chance to put some more stuff on tape for some other team...Hell..unless this guy hulks out and goes for 250 yds..he is not gonna make this teams active roster...

 

Yep - I read somewhere that this is basically a 4-day contract.

 

Exceptional? He has twice the carries as the next RB. Yet he has only a 2.7 yd avg. 34 carries for 93 yds.

Agreed. Although I haven't seen the Bills game yet, in the first two I thought he did fine with what he had. They've basically been using him on plays more suited for Isaac Redman or Jerome Bettis, and it's Beachum and Essex and Malecki leading the way for him. I'm wondering if they are doing that to him intentionally, just to see what he offers in that capacity. Like testing his weaknesses.

 

well... I was practicing my big word skills... damn reader's digest.... btw Redman's ypc is 2.2...just sayin...its like Mark Twain said..there's lie...damn lies...and statistics...

 

batch has done fine. he's gotten better with the backup line getting better. he wiped out two defenders down field to get brown into the EZ. he's good in blitz pickup. the kid had some nice runs last game.

as for harris, he may be kept around on the PS if he shows anything at all, just in case rainey would get dinged up during the season. we could use another bug on the rug type guy if they are going to design part of the offense around this type of backs skills. harris is a 4.4 guy and did 27 reps, so he's not small and weak, he's just short. i like ford too ,so far. he also could be kept on the squad possibly.

Ok just had a thought....does the 3 day waiting period to play apply to Dujaun...or is he exempt because he had already been in a camp?
