I was literally fixing to ask this. I like it. I noticed something they said on NFL Network and it made me wonder if they flexed it. Batch was saying on Cooler Talk that it was probably gonna get pushed to 4pm but did they move it to primetime? He was saying there was something like 5,000 no shows today and I took it that he thought they might not flex to a game that probably wasn't gonna be a packed house or something.

Heard that on Cooler talk also! I was under the impression that you could only have a maximum of five prime time games per season? So it was a surprise to me when Bob Costas announced it a few minutes ago.

    Wonder what's up with the no-shows ?

I actually like them because I don't have to worry about having to leave before church before they are over. I can just come home and watch them from the first and not have to "catch up" on my dvr. Why do you not like them? You like going to bed with the chickens? LOL.

I'm curious about them myself because the team has played better as of late. SURELY if we wind up with a playoff game the house will be full. It must just be that people feel the d isn't dependable or something. The offense is generally fun to watch and besides that going to games is a fun experience anyway and most of our home games have been at 1. So I don't get the no shows either. Today I heard a guy tell Batch that he wishes if people weren't gonna use their tix they would donate them to soldiers. I think that's an awesome idea actually.

I'm a night owl and always have been. Even when I do have to get up early. I just love staying up late. Good night though. LOL.

The part that's hard to understand is that these tickets are already paid for and people still don't go. When the attendance problems were brought up last time the excuses were stuff like "it's a night game and the kids have school tomorrow " or " I'm not spending my time and money for the crappy product they're putting on the field "
Those excuses aren't flying right now.
Guess the no shows are due to last minute Christmas shopping ?

Count me down as an insomniac also. Must be from 3 decades of working 3 different shifts.

1st shift is great, 2nd shift blows and 3rd shift is only good for when I used to go fishing at 7 am. People look at you very strangely having a couple cold ones after work though while catching some bass.

Well the no shows are at least DOWN but still 5,000 is a lot of empty seats. Although when I was at the Titans game this year I'd say there might have been 10,000 empties and without a majority of Steelers fans it would have been a lot more than that. Also a guy was saying today that he figured in Atlanta it was 80-20 Steelers fans. I've just always felt that the locals maybe "take them for granted" or whatever.

That's true as a general rule, but 3 teams are allowed a sixth.

I believe you may be right about the "taking it for granted " comment.
It's a real shame for a team that has the history that the Steelers do!

Ok this goes back to something that was discussed earlier in the year are they 5000 no shows or 5000 empty seats? one implies that people didn't show up the other is like Art says they like to stand in the rotunda.

It is either that or people are afraid to lose their PSL rights. But if your friends are that dumb and disrespectful to your generosity you really need new friends anyway in my opinion.

I was curious about those fans today. I never saw a shot to confirm whether they were there though.

The 5,000 no show number comes from the count at the gate.

It's kind of ironic, if you think about it. For years, we sold out stadiums with 20 year waiting lists for season tickets when the D was dominant, year in and year out. Now we have the #1 offense in the NFL - but no shows. Go figure.
