I'm not gonna blame our O struggles today entirely on Haley, but two things in particular pissed me off beyond belief today. One, we hardly ever went to no huddle. We usually do pretty well in the no huddle and I think we went to it all of three plays today. And second (the most maddening one), why on earth do we pass on every play inside the ten? It seemed like every time we got in the red zone we went shotgun 5-wide... Don't we realize that we have a top RB in the league? It is so much harder to throw in a shorter field, and if we line up under center our play action game will improve as well. I just don't see any reason why we won't go into a single back or I form almost every time we get the ball inside the red zone.

Which play was that? Actually wasn't Tomlin saying that even during the bucs game that we had ran that play multiple times and got 10yds or more with it? I thought Haley called a crappy game today but overall I'm happy with him as OC because I think he has benefited our run game. Bell is the first Steeler to ever get 100yds in the first 5 games of the season. That's a pretty good run attack. Ben has almost 1,300yds as well. AB is lighting it up. So I feel like our offense is far from the weak point of the team. I just wish we would quit stalling in red zone.

The Steelers are in the top 5 in rushing, passing and overall offense this season.Lets not forget that Haley is the one that called the play to Larry Fitz that should of won the Superbowl for Arizona.I think as Steeler fans our concerns should be elsewhere.

Charlie Batch said that exact same thing today. Were you listening? I wish I could find someone that was listening because there was this foreign guy that called in and talked about what a great job Ben did hosting Monday Night Raw a couple of years ago. It was HILARIOUSLY awkward! They didn't even know how to respond to the call and just started playing the Twilight Zone music.

He also called the greatest Super Bowl play in history. He probably wouldn't agree but I think James Harrison would. LOL.

That play would have worked too if Harrison doesn't improvise.

My biggest beef today with our offense is this:

    STUBBORNNESS

It's like we came with a game plan, and were going to stick to the script no matter what.

They're dropping almost everyone back to stop the pass? Pass anyway.

They're jumping all over our screens? Use them anyway.

Our run game is gashing them whenever we use it? LOL, we don't need to do that. And we ESPECIALLY don't need to run in the red zone.

Not sure what the point of all that was. We could have and probably should have dropped 30-40 points on them. But we got thick headed and refused to take what the defense was offering us. We played right into their hands.

The question was whose call was that? Haley's or Tomlin's? If the offense is bad is it "just Haley" but when it's good is it "Haley AND Tomlin"? When the is D is bad is it "just DL" or when it is good is it "DL AND Tomlin"? I'm not trying to be inflammatory. I honestly think it's both in either circumstance. Just curious how others see it.

No idea. And we'll likely never know. Hell, for all we know it's Ben calling/audibles.

Fact is, our running game is effective. And we shy away from it. Our screens are not, and we just keep bashing our head against that wall.

We have all of these really nicely designed PA pass plays. No. Really, they are. But if we only run sparingly, opposing Ds aren't going to bite on them.

Exactly... You know what? I think I've found the identity we've all been searching for, for this team. I believe this teams identity is the definition of insanity.

we suck at all phases of the game. I am surprised we have won any games. Organization needs to be turned on its head to right this ship.

He also kept Fitz out of the game plan for most of the game even though we very clearly couldn't cover him. If Haley wasn't a moron, we might have 1 fewer ring.

Fitz had 7 catches for 127yds and 2tds. He led his team in yds, tds, and only Boldin had more catches with 8. We have different opinions of the phrase "out of the game". I would say that is pretty clearly IN the game considering that the Super Bowl MVP had 9 catches for 131yds. Just my opinion anyway. Haley called a great game that night and if not for the greatest defensive play in NFL history the Cards would have won a ring. That Cards team had 3 receivers with over 1,000yds. That is a prolific passing attack.

Our team deserved to win that game, I give no credit to Arizona or dumb luck. It was an all around good game with huge plays by both the offense and defense.

I agree. I was just saying that Harrison's play was probably "THE" play when it was all said and done. That was a HUGE point swing when that happened. We did play an awesome game though. There were arguably 3 MVP candidates for us. I still say Ben deserved it. I've talked to some who say Harrison deserved it and some people say Santonio deserved it. Man it was an awesome game. I STILL remember the feeling of absolute disgust when Fitz caught that second TD. Then we got a penalty to start that drive but then Ben made the greatest throw and Holmes the greatest catch and the rest is history. Man I get all warm and fuzzy and flat out pumped just thinking about it! I used to watch that last drive over and over on my dvr.

Yeah, and almost all of that and his targets came at the end of the game during desperation time. The very 1st pass directed at Fitz came with ~ 1:50 left in the 1st half ... the 3rd pass directed at him came with 10:00 left in the 4th quarter with the Cards down 20 to 7.
