That is something only someone with years of integrity honesty and loyalty would earn

I do not expect someone of your stature to understand

We should have Took Stafford from the lions that could have been a difference maker but guys remember we were hold 19 years with Tomlin we had no chance anyway

Ok, I'll bite on this idiotic statement.

How is Sam Darnold a waste of cap money?

This year cap cost: 13.4 million
    2026 cap cost: 36.9 million.

    Signed a 3 year $100 million contract.

14 regular season wins in each of the last 2 year and now a Superbowl win.

Looking back at 2025, seems like a no brainer, to keep George Pickens, and then use the money you paid to DK Metcalf to pay Sam Darnold.

    Here I’ll help

    I don’t remember where I read this

    2026 cap cost: 36.9 million.

    Signed a 3 year $100 million contract.

Which GM job did you hold in the NFL?

A lot of NFL teams were in need including the Steelers and only 1 was willing to give him that kind of money.

There is no shame in using the history of a player before making a costly decision.

So, you are still hoping the Steelers can find a 14 game winning QB for under $30 million.

Darnold,'s $36.9 cap hit in 2026 is still a good value.

Do you seriously think we were winning 14 games with Darnold last year

    Now that funny

Not really. I don't think he and I agree often, but clearly, we're not the only ones who see the Steelers would have been better off this year with Darnold and would have a better option in place for 2026.

There is when you fail to recognize a positive trend and get it wrong, as the Steelers got it wrong.

You go back in time and put Sam Darnold and George Pickens on the Steelers roster in 2025 and I could see them beating out the Patriots for the AFC Superbowl spot

Sam Darnold is easily worth his cap space. It is crazy that you said you would rather have Darnold 's 36.9 million cap space than a starting QB in 2026.

The Seahawks got a lucky TD from Kaleb Johnson brain fart.

I guess the Vikings got it wrong too because they let Darnold walk after he had a career year with them.

I don't recall the Steelers making a serious offer to Darnold, and if they kept Pickens it probably meant no Metcalf so they would still just have one legit WR.

You're forgetting one major element.... coaching. Sam Darnold had good coaching with Vikings and now with Seahawks with competent 21st century offensive philosophies. Steelers had none of that. What makes you think Darnold would have won more games than Rodgers in 2025?

Yes both offensive lines struggled last night. That’s fair.

Point stands through. The environment around Darnold is much better than what he’d have had in Pittsburgh, and it’s really not close.

Then how come Rodgers didn't win games with the Jets, but won games with the Steelers?

OK, Sam Darnold has been successful these past 2 seasons by playing a high risk, high reward style. How compatible is that with our outgoing “reduce risk to as close to zero as possible” coaching regime?

Do people really think we would have gotten the same Sam Darnold with the invisible fence collar he would have been wearing here?

The Lions made that trade with the Rams because they traded their QB Goff as part of the deal.

This is correct. Darnold would have produced the same as all of the QBs have done since Ben in 2019.

The real issue is (and hopefully won't be with the HC change) that Steelers just plan year to year without any real forward looking moves. They didn't plan for Ben's successor and have been trying a pile of QBs that had no real future potential. Trub, Pickens, Rudolph, Fields, Wilson and AR all were never long term solutions.

    Rodgers being 60
    Is still better than Darnold
Darnold would’ve flopped big time here in the burgh

I'm not sure I agree that a 60 year old Rodgers is better than Darnold. But assuming anything remotely true about the statement, it shows how inept our entire offensive plan has been.

I think Darnold would have had similar "success" that Rodgers had here. They're both capable passers at this point. And Darnold is more mobile than old man Rodgers. But no team in the league feared our wr corps.

We better enter the 2026 season with something more than just DK as a receiving threat or it's not going to matter who the QB is.

Seattle owned us this season. They got Darnold, while we took Rodgers. Then they unloaded headcase DK on us. Then they beat us in the home opener. Then they went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Vikings went from 14 victories with Darnold in 2024 to 9-8 and missing the playoffs in 2025. Poor quarterback play was a big part of that collapse. So yes, the Vikings quite clearly got it wrong.
