    This.

Personally I believe he has some good years left in him. I doubt he simply just wants to finish out his career in Pittsburgh. Keep in mind he was snubbed as an All Decade selection and was very miffed about it.

I believe he has his sights set on more than just a Super Bowl. I believe his sights are set on Canton. He will have to pull out all the stops for that though. That said, I would not count him out just yet.

Last dline game changer we had was in a 4-3 & he was Mean. 3-4 guys just need to eat up blockers for the lbs.

    Mr Consistent, he’s earned it.

At first look it seems a lot for someone the wrong side of 30 but when you break down his stats over the last 3 years his numbers completely justify it imo.

Cams got better and better with age, he was a monster last year and I’ve no doubts that he’s going to be just as disruptive again this year.

Secured not just the talent/production but also a much needed leader on that D-Line.

I'm leaning towards lazy and more worried about Pro Bowl votes than the real task at hand. He had 3 weeks to get ready for that game. Starters didn't play much last game of regular season, bye, then a week to prepare for game. He was gassed and getting subbed out in the 2nd quarter.

I’ll never know what the heck people are watching when they say Heyward isn’t that good.

And I agree, 2 top years and after that, gets dicey.

Yep. Most Interior Defensive Lineman fall off a cliff after 33. There are some exceptions but none are rules sadly.

Calais Campbell is an exception for me. Granted though, by an Interior Defensive Linemans standards, he is a freak. He is going to make life difficult for us without question; Derek Wolfe the same.

I think this contract is a good deal for both Heyward and the Steelers. Fair market value.

    Hey uncblue012.

Okay, now that, that is out of the way that is good news. This is a "Shut-Down" Defense folks IMO. Every spot is covered with the possible exception of Edmunds back at Safety. In the past, we have typically, had a very strong run defense. We do now, and now.... (drum roll) we finally, finally have a.... pass defense to boot. Yes!!!!

There really should be no where for opposing offenses to go against us. I really believe we are that good. We saw this last year. Now, if Ben can remain healthy, put up points (and we are capable of points with all of the "O" weapons that we have now) put up points, let the "D" get a rest and we should be pitching some shut-outs this year. I would not be surprised if we lead the league in scoring defense. Again, this is contingent on what the "O" does and of course everyone staying healthy.

Our "D" was very good last season. This was with no breathers because the anemic "O" was just that, anemic. We all know that when a team can put together extended time consuming drives, that result in TDs of course, this will give the "D" a rest. In turn, this will make our already great defense even that much more potent. I am really jacked-up about the "Completeness" of this Steelers' Team.

I do not care if we are not the "center-piece" of discussion on the Networks. Who gives a flying f. I don't. I do not want to hear the old clichés about:
    • Chips on shoulders.
    • Under the radar.
    • Something to prove.
    • No respect card.
    • blah ,blah ,blah, blah.

I do not not give a hoot about all of that rhetoric. These are professionals. All of those so called "motivators" that I just mentioned above are for insecure teams/individuals that have never won anything. They use these so called motivators to convince themselves of something. Real champions just shut their mouths and play. In the end, the World will know who we are if we take care of "busy-ness" (smile).

Next Stop: New Jersey. The first post to be set on fire enroute to a much longer trail destined to be set ablaze.

What's interesting is that it seems to have been that way his entire career. I remember when in his rookie season he barely played, but had 1 sack and blocked a FG, and people were still wanting to call him a bust.

Absolutely love this! Cam Heyward is a Pittsburgh guy both on and off the field. I don't just mean by his place of birth and roots to his father from his playing days at Pitt. I could not imagine him anywhere else! Cam is a stand up guy that really gets involved with the community. His character alone makes him a PR dream for any professional sports team and is a role model in the locker room.

The high character that Cam has shows he loves the game and Pittsburgh more than a pay day.
