He seems to have good hands and ball skills, and appears to be quicker than Cotchery. I say good signing.

What's the problem w/ signing him?

The Cotch thing: Panthers were willing to commit 5 Frick'n years to him!?!?! The Steelers wanted to keep him so they saw what we see but wisely will not go down that road. Sad but happens.

Not a bad insurance policy for the price even if we have to lift him up to sign it.

This was a good signing. Moore has very good hands, will go across the middle and make the catch knowing he's about to get hit. He is younger than Cotchery AND he returns punts & KO.

Also he isn't replacing Jerricho, his replacement is already here in wheaton. Moore is going to replace Sanders at a much cheaper price.

Moore would have caught that 2 point conversion against the Rats! :frustrated:

    Possibly :lolol:

This is one of those myths that snowball though, Sanders drop rate is in fact ranked 6th best, AB is ranked 3rd.

I would have liked him to catch that 2 pt conversion too but that was no easy catch.

I read the article and pretty much agree, however, that was based on what the Steelers do in the redzone. How much of what the Steelers do in the redzone is because they don't have a guy that can routinely run the routes with the size to just go up and get it like other teams do? Most are not saying that the team can't be successful with smaller receivers, but that they might be better served to have a few guys that can actually out jump defenders when it's necessary or to make a catch without having to "give up" your body over the middle with a leaping acrobatic catch?

Is your question: How much of the Steelers RZ strategy has to do with not having tall receivers?

Assuming that it is... I'm our RZ strategy definitely has something to do with not having tall receivers. We almost never run fade routes or "jump balls" because we don't have the 6'5'' WR that has a big vertical leap. Now do I think our RZ TD% increase if we had more tall WR's to throw fades to? No, not necessarily. If we run the ball better when the opposition knows it is coming, then we will see our RZ TD% increase drastically. We will score more TD's by pounding the rock and running effective PA in the RZ than we would by throwing Moye or Evans/Benjamin in there for a bunch of fade routes. If Bell continues to improve both his running and receiving abilities like he is capable, he will be our most valuable RZ threat by a long shot. I have a feeling that he will have high TD numbers this year.

You got what I was saying, but look at t another way. How much do other teams know that you won't be throwing said plays, which allows them to defend what you do more efficiently. I agree, that if they run better with effective PA the percentages should increase, would be nice to force a defense to at least respect the other routes.

This was a necessary signing after losing Cotch
It is still a downgrade in talent from what we had.
Sorta like going back to a Chevy after you have driven a Buick.

we needed a vet in case AB would get dinged up. I think moore is a cross between sanders and cotch. able to be a #2, but will most likely play the slot, and if AB would get dinged up, he would go to the #1 and wheaton would stay put at #2.

I think we are in pretty good shape with this addition. moye knows the system as should Justin brown by this season. wheaton will have a much better grasp on it too. AB and now moore. not to mention a few new guys on the roster we haven't seen. I'm not so sure we don't wait for something to drop to us or even wait til the later rounds for wr's. from street on down through UDFA's there is talent in this draft class. tons. you have everything from big to fast and all productive. we should have more than enough competition in camp this year. even if they wait.

I had a feeling it would be close to that amount (3mil) and like no guaranteed money, even better. Good deal.

Steelers signed WR Lance Moore to a two-year contract. Moore, who turns 31 before the season, played behind rookie Kenny Stills in New Orleans last year, recording a 37-457-2 stat line across 13 appearances. He generally looked to be running out of gas, and was released by the Saints in early March. Moore had a few nice seasons with Drew Brees, but is a 5-foot-9, 182-pound possession receiver who won't cure Pittsburgh's red-zone woes. Moore is an uninspiring option to replace Jerricho Cotchery.
