He seems to be quite fast and elusive. Could help us in a backup roll for sure..

Anyone think this guy will storm off because he's not getting any carries?

I remember this guy, I think Mac was talking him up. Wonder if they plan on bringing him up or just there for insurance and roll with Harris.

Seems like a slightly smaller version of Bell - elusive runner with speed - good receiver as well. Did you notice not once did he signal "FIRST DOWN" after a long run nor dance around in the end zone - he dropped the ball to the ground and then rejoined his jubilant team mates. I like him already. And best of all - he won't have Blount as a mentor.

Speed back, got used in goal line instances, can catch out of the backfield.....Hmmm if he can block and yield punts he may challenge Dri Archer for a spot.

Perkins looks Willie Parker fast! I like those highlights as long as they aren't sped up. I thought Chris Johnson speed when I looked but Willie Parker speed works for me.

Also I think he may be our first LaDarius. It's a cool name

I don't recall him standing out, I don't really know anything about him other than he was projected to be a 4th-6th rd draft pick.

Perkins was one of those late round/UDFA tier RBs that I liked this year based on the limited film that I had watched. I like adding him to our PS.

Towel, I could probably figure this out, with a minimal amount of Google searching, but what is the "FXFL" league?
    Seemed easier to ask you.
I haven`t heard of many leagues trying to compete with the NFL, since Vince McMahon`s "xfl"...
The reason I ask, is, there is a group of investors, trying to start a very small pro football league, here in Akron, OH...
OK, it`s not really BASED here, but they have already bought the "Rubber Bowl", which is a pretty iconic stadium here, dating to the late 60`s, early 70`s...
It was originally the Akron Zips home stadium; It has been home to rock concerts by the Rolling Stones, and Stevie Wonder, back in the day... When I was in High School, it hosted a "Monsters of Rock Tour", that featured Metallica, Van Halen(Sammy Hagar era...) , the Scorpions, etc...
Really a big deal around here, right next door to the Goodyear Airdock, where they built the first Goodyear blimps, and lots of other parts for planes that fought the first 2 World Wars...,
It has since fallen into disrepair, and local leaders have been trying to find a good use for it..
Anyhow, these guys(I forget who are the investors), purchased the Rubber Bowl, auctioned off a lot of the original pieces and parts(seats, etc), and are currentley in the process of fixing it up, to host a "pro" football team, to be part of an 8 team league to start, that can basically feed players to the NFL, that didn`t get drafted.
They are not marketing it as direct "competition" to the NFL, but they don`t exactly have NFL "endorsement" for the league, either...
    Like "NFL Europe"...
And they are playing the game by the same rules as the NFL... Not playing "Arena League", or "Canadian Football" perversions...
As far as I know, they had "tentative" agreements with about 8 cities, to start this league.
Could this be the "FXFL", that you were referring to?
As far as I know, what I am talking about hasn`t come to fruition yet...
I would have thought I would have heard some ads, if Akron had a Pro Football team, currently playing!
    Did I miss something?!?
If not, what is the "FXFL"?
We could sure use a backup insurance policy... And I don`t much like what I see on the waiver wires/unemployed players, options.

But what about our 3rd round draft choice
Dri Archer? Where does he fit into the picture?

He was basically asking what the FXFL was, and then speculating on what it might be.

The short answer is this: http://www.fxfl.com/

It's a four-team league focused on local markets, that provides a platform for players missed by the NFL. So perhaps a bit like NFL Europe, but without the specific relation to the NFL.

Interesting that the first news story I see on that page is about Jordan Dangerfield.

i did like perkins BF. i think we will have a nice stable of guys with bell as the year goes on. they are all pretty good backs, at least they were in college. i am excited about dri getting some more touches too.

as for the rubber bowl in akron, i played there for the zips. bleed, there used to be a cool bar/restaurant down in that area, right across from what used to be goodyears main offices, it was called doubletime. great gyro's late at night. it's been a while since i was last up to akron in that area. goodyears areospace hanger was a cool building too as you said. so tall it used to rain in that hanger. LOL anyway, i like to hear there are some semi-pro leagues getting going again. i grew up watching the wheeling ironmen play on the island in wheeling,w.va.. there were several ex and pre steelers that played for them as i remember. of course that was a long time ago. i like the fact that they are getting some intrest in the area where pro football basically started. cool stuff. thanks.

i'd like to add, there are some stud rb's in this years draft too. i wouldn't be suprised if we took one mid rounds.

Perkins seems to be able to move around the field well. His catches were brought right in and he carried the ball tightly. So thats good.. He didn't cave in after getting touched and ran strongly after initial contact.

We have seen worse come in.

Wow, I actually know what you're talking about and surprised that they went through with it. A friend that I work with was deeply involved in this but pulled out when Dan Snyder pulled out as a backer.

Aye, it's a developmental league. FXFL stands for Fall eXperimental Football League. It doesn't compete with the NFL at all, but works in conjunction with the league.

I believe I remember reading that it was started by a league sports attorney and the NFL plans to use it for experimenting with new rules and procedure changes.

I haven't watched any of it, but I do know that there is a ton of talent that could benefit from a "transitional" year before hitting the NFL. As opposed to landing on a practice squad then working at Home Depot.
