Read somewhere on NFL.com sthat Golden Boy Brady has 17 TDs and 0 INTs against the Steelers in the Mike Tomlin ERA.

We are his lil B. Sigh.

The NFL is a passing league now. Until we actually get ballhawks in our secondary, we will get eaten alive by half decent QBs. And PRESSURE means nothing...they merrily dink and dunk down the field. To BEAT Golden Boy, you must have COVERAGE sacks. Even 7 James Harrisons up front would make little difference without ballers who can play man/press coverage.

That is all...on to San Francisco.

I don't feel like I saw a lot of man coverage, yesterday. The pressure up front was decent considering the shake up on defense from last year to this year. But that secondary... that was crazy how open the Pats were out there.

I expected the midget duo of Edelman and Amendola to shake'n'bake their way open, but I never would've guessed Gronk would get so wide open on many of his catches. As a fan I can only chalk that up to blown coverage.

I think we only had 10 men on the field for that play as well... Maddening

One of the other mind boggling plays on defense was a run play in the second half. Edelman came in motion and got close to the tackle like he was a TE and then blocked inward so the RB could get outside, nothing particularly fancy but as I watched it I was thinking ok where is the guy that is supposed to be on Edelman? He blocks the OLB into the pile so where is the safety or CB that is suppose to have him that could at that point take down the back?

I only remember one play where we had 10 men on the field. It was a short pass to Edleman.
It wouldn't surprise me if there were others, though. :rolleye:

They should've played press coverage, then Brady would have to hold the ball longer. How come none of the players or coaches called timeout when Gronk was uncovered twice in the game?

We drafted three "ballhawks" this year. 30 interceptions between them last year. How has that worked out for us?

Should be tough to find since we barely covered Edelman the whole game. I'm still a little bit peeved they didn't adjust at halftime and attack that trio of rookies in the center of the line. Sooner or later they would have broke.

Remember when the same situation happened with the Chargers (and quite a few other teams over the years honestly) and one side of their line were rookies and we couldn't do jack. Are boys aren't coached to manipulate match ups I guess. Crazy. Rookies always give us fits even in the lebeau years. I never bought into the rookie QB thing stats aside. Rooks work us time and time again I don't get it.

I honestly think they tried to scheme it into a weakness instead of using one on one mismatches to their advantage. undrafted rookie center against the Mountain(Big Dan) I'd just had him lineup over center and just shove the guy back into Brady and that would have made him nervous

Yeah they dropped the ball not getting Dan involved more... Sound technique or not he would've overwhelmed and did a bit when he was called on.

Preperation, LOL we have seen over the last 9 years
how we have been out coached. The one thing I will always remember ex players speak of when they played for the Emperor was that they were fundamentaly sound and FULLY prepared to face their opponent.

You need a wider shot. That could be their standard cushion.
