    1) I was against hiring MM because other than being from the opposite side of the ball he seemed too much of the same we just had for the last 19 years. After experiencing how he is running things and Steelers needing to find a franchise QB, I like the hire a lot more.

    2) Originally wanted Shula, he whiffed on the HC market for a reason, probably seen as not ready yet. The only other coach I would have liked to have had at this point is Kubiak.

    3) Steelers havent had a shot at a SB since Ben retired but I think coaching was definitely holding them back while Ben was in his prime. Along with some bad luck injuries.

    4) Dont know, I like both Howard and Allar but both are probably long shots. I like Allars physical gifts and I like Howards mental grasp of the game. Too bad we can’t combine the two.

    5) His playoff record. He’s had good QB’s at every stop. Now he is in the worst position he's ever been in at QB unless Rodgers turns back the clock this season or Allar or Howard pan out over the rest of his tenure.

    Ben and coaching equally responsible

Yet both will probably get into the HOF

Same with Don Shula/Jimmy Johnson with Dan Marino. Shula and Johnson won SBs but not with Marino.

My thoughts at first did not include McCarthy, he was a bit of a surprise.
But I warmed up to it.

    Pros
    • Proven QB development: Known as an offensive-minded coach and quarterback developer (notably with Aaron Rodgers).
    • Offense can improve quickly: If the Steelers get the right scheme/personnel fit, he’s more likely to prioritize play-calling and offensive rhythm than a purely defensive retread.
    • Regular-season track record: He’s had sustained success in the regular season across head-coaching stops.
    Cons
    • Adaptability/in-game questions: Common critique is that his offenses and decisions can get less creative or less effective late—especially in high-leverage moments.
    • Playoff “ceiling” skepticism: Critics point to a pattern of not fully converting regular-season success into deep playoff runs.
    • Fit with modern NFL trends: Some fans/readers argue the league has evolved faster than his approach, making the hire feel like a “win-now now” bet rather than a long-term modern rebuild.
The best positives of McCarthy’s assembled staff are that it’s a true overhaul with role-specific coaching coverage (offense, defense, special teams, and a fairly deep strength/performance group), and it leans heavily on experienced NFL positional coaches paired with defensive/secondary coaching credibility—so the Steelers aren’t just changing the head coach; they’re bringing in people who have run those same functions at a high level.

And yet people on this board still think one of them should be the Steelers HC

Mostly because someone else with clickbait told them so
